Cairo, Thomas County, Georgia, June 2-4, 1904. An interesting game of ball was played here last Tuesday between our local line-up and Bainbridge. Excitement ran high all the while, as Bainbridge was in the lead up to about the 6th inning when Criro evened up and in addition thereto got the lead by one run, and suc ceeded in holding the lead with two to the good up until the time Bainbridge went up for her half of the ninth, at this time Bainbridge run there’s up to 9, giving them one to the good, and on Cairo’s last half shut them out from scoring leaving the score 8 to 9 in their favor. The boys left immediately on the afternoon train for home— feeling quite gay over their vie torv. The game was not only interesting but a pretty one; in many instances the rangle in base ball causes many to lo^e interest, but Bainbridge has a good, jolly and jovial set of boys, and Cairo’s team has al ways been given credit for play ing clean ball, hence there was not the slightest hitch among the players, and every speaks in high praise of fairness, and quick judgment the umpire, Mr. Thrower. The features of the were the heavy batting of Bainbridge men, and the of catcher, Butler, and baseman, Wood for two hits, each of them m their efforts. This is the second time Bainbridge has defeated boys, but they state they to have another game them in Bainbridge as soon convenient for both team#.
