W. W. WEBB.
Hon. W. W. Webb, of Hahira,
president of the Georgia Old Age
Pension Association, announced a
few days ago that he will stump the
state in behalf of E. D. Rivers’ can
didacy for Governor.
“The Georgia Old Age Pension As
sociation has given its unqualified
indorsement to Speaker Rivers’ can
didacy,” Mr. Webb said. “There are
123 county clubs in Georgia com
prising over 100,000 members and we
are going to solidly support Rivers
for Governor,” Mr. Webb asserted.
“It is interesting to note that the
candidate indorsed by the Old Age
Pension Association in Florida has
keen elected to the United States
Senate, Mr. Webb said.
Mr. Webb, although 81 years old,
is a forceful speaker and has devot
his life to unselfish public ser
vice. He has visited Grady county a
number of times in the past and has
loudly praised the county’s crop di
versification in speeches here.
Chevrolet Sales Top
Twelve Million Mark
Spurred by a record-breaking de
mand continuing month after month,
the production of Chevrolet cars and
trucks passed the 12 , 000 , 000 -mark
here this “week, last million of that
all-time total having been built in
almost exactly eight months, The
announcement was made by M. E.
Coyle, president and general mana
ger of the Chevrolet Motor Co. The
number of cars and trucks built since
introduction of the 1933 model is now
1,182,000, he said.
Achievment of the 12th million-car
milestone in the company’s history
was hastened, Mr. Coyle said, by the
sustained demand which these pro
ducts are enjoying all over the coun
try, and the increased production fa
cilities which, installed a year ago,
have enabled the company to keep
pace with that demand. Even “with
those facilities, he said, it has not
been easy to build cars and trucks
as fast as they were wanted in the
field.
