tained the members of their bridge
club and other friends at a lovely
party last Friday evening.
A profusion of colorful blossoms,

dulas < and pansies, in artistic arrange
ment adorned the rooms where the ta
bles were set.
Ladies’ high-score prize, a bridge
cover set, was won by Mrs. M. L.
Mayes. Thurston Brown won the
gentlemen’s high score and he was
presented with a neck tie.
A delightful course consisting of
molded chicken''salad, cheese balls,
stuffed dates and hot coffee was
served.

for several days of the week her sister,

her friends, Mrs. Wasson, and tWo

Mrs. T. A. Powell returned home
the latter part of last week from Val
dosta, wfeere she underwent hospital
treatment, for several weeks. She vis
ited her brother, Dr. Gordon Crozier,

from a visit of several weeks with
Lieut.-Commander Hugh E. Mauldin,
and family, in Portsmouth, Va. She
also visited relatives in Atlanta and
Athens en route to Portsmouth.

Lake City, *Fla., with the former’s
brother, Mr. Floyd Pearce, who is a

Mrs. N. M. Walker, of Cuthbert,
formerly of Cairo, was the guest of
Miss Clara Mauldin, here, Sunday,
while Mr. Walker, a former member
of the Cairo High School faculty, wit
nessed the golf tournament in Thom
asville. Mrs. Walker and Miss Maul
din saw the final rounds of the tourna
ment Sunday afternoon, also.
CANE ASS’N HAS TWO LINES
OF FERTILIZERS.
Announcement is made in this issue
that the Cane Association, with head
quarters in Cairo, is handling two
popular lines of fertilizers this season
and that complete stocks of both lines
are on hand.
“Co-op” fertilizers, made by the
Producers Co-operative Exchange, in
Atlanta, are being carried again af
ter they proved so satisfactory to cus
tomers last year. The Armour line
is being handled, again, also.
Orders are being handled for the
Association by Guy Vanlandingham
and may be given him.

for Atlanta to accept a position. He

since his return from a residence of
some time in New York City.

Miss Kathryn Brown is planning to
leave during the week-end for Lexing
ton, Ky., where she will undergo an
operation. She has been convalescing
from a recent operation at a local
hospital and will be under the care
of specialists in Lexington.
