In the late afternoon, fruit sponge,
topped with whipped cream and cher
ries, and pound cake and coffee were
served by the hostesses.
Mrs. Chason, the honoree, was be
comingly attired in a spring model of
lavender crepe, with a corsage of pink
and lavender sweet peas.
The large group of guests enjoying
the occasion included Mrs. H. A.
Adams, and daughters, Dolores and
Bonita, of Cotton, Ga.
ADOLYN ARLINE IN PLAY
AT MERCER.—
Macon, Ga., March 9th.—(Special
to The Messenger).—The Mercer Uni
versity Players will next week present
“The Iron Collar” as their major pro
duction for the winter quarter. The
play is a four-act drama built around
the life of Percy Bysse Shelley, Eng
lish poet of the early 19th century.
Adolyn Arline, Cairo, will play one
of the supporting leads as she takes
the hole of Mary Godwin, Shelley’s
second wife, Trammell Shi, Macon
law student, will be starred in the
cast as the poet. Carolyn Adams,
Tampa junior, will play the second
supporting lead as Harriet West
brook, Shelley’s first 'wife.
The play was written by Joe E.
Rickenbacker, Washington, D. C.,
nior, and is being produced under the
direction of Dr. Wilbur Stout,
or of the Mercer Players and head
the Mercer dramatics department.

agency left Thursday to attend a zone
meeting of Chevrolet dealers in Jack
sonville, which will be featured by an
address of W. E. Holler, vice-presi

Mrs. John Wight returned home on
Sunday night from Little Rock, Ark.,
where she was called recently because
of the sudden death of her father, Mr.
R. P. Allen. She was accompanied
home by Mrs. Alien, 'who will spend

J. W. Crapps. The school at Russell
ville, Ala., 'where she teaches, has
closed temporarily on account of an
influenza epidemic.

Miss Marjorie Cain, a student at G.
S. W., at Athens, has been spending
several days at home because of ill
ness. She accompanied Messrs. Sam
Cain, Jr., and Walter Graham, who
went to Athens Saturday and returned
Sunday.
