GRAND JURY REPORT
QUITE
(Continued from page one.)
Stephens, A. L. Thompson, Ben
Wright and W. T, Whitfield.
The grand jury presentments
recommend that each succeeding
grand jury “follow suit” on the plan,
which would virtually perpetuate the
grand juries of the future as active
and continuous law enforcement agen
cies.
Livestock dealers of the county
were again cautioned to comply
with the comparatively new state
law requiring them to register
with the Ordinary, pay a fee, and
observe other regulations includ
ing one to keep a complete record
of each animal handled. The
grand jury asked proper author
ities to communicate with cor
responding authorities in adjoin
ing counties looking forward to
better enforcement of this law all
around.
Several important appointments
were made by the grand jury by elec
tion and confirmation by the court, as
follows:
S. P. Giain, chairman, County
Board of Education, re-elected to me
ceed himself;
E\ A. Maxwell, vice-chairman Co.
Board of Education, re-elected to suc
ceed himself;
G. B. Trulock, member, County
Board of Education, re-elected to suc
ceed himself;
Dr. A. W. Rehberg, chairman,
County Board of Health, re-elected to
succeed himself;
County Historian, W. B. Rodden
bery, Sr., officially designated for the
first time;
B. H. McNair, Notary Public and
E’x-Officio Justice of the Peace, 553rd
district, G. M„ re-elected to succeed
himself; and
L. C. Collins, Notary Public and
Ex-officio Justice of tha Peace, 576th
district, G. M., re-elected to succeed

CHAIRMAN DAVIS EXPLAINS
POSITION.
Chairman Walter Davis, of the
County Commissioners, said this week
the move made last week to have the
grand jury to recommend discontin
uance of the Ellis health w r ork had as
its purpose the substitution of the
smaller health unit set-up such as
that which existed here prior to the
enlargement some months ago, and
not elimination of public health work,
entirely. He said complete elimina
tion 'would be necessary before the
smaller and less costly unit could be
re-established.
Dr. W. A. Walker, who appeared
before the Commissioners last week af
ter they had adopted a resolution re
questing the grand jury to discontin
ue the health work, concurred in the
explanation of Mr. Davis. Both said
they favor public health work, but on
the smaller scale.
