Ga., has been the guest of Mrs. Arthur
Bell here this week. Mrs. Wight is a
former resident of Cairo.

daughter, Mass Martha Brown, have
returned to their home in Martin, Ga.,
after spending several days here as
the guests of Mr. T. D. Brown, Jr.,

Mrs. Vester Stokes spent Wednes
day and Thursday in Milledgeville.
Misses Winifred Stokes., Virginia Rey
nolds and Jeannette Lashley, stud

with her for the spring holidays.
Miss Reba Pinson and Mr. Jim
Moore, of Atlanta, spent the week-end
here as the guests of the former’s sis
ter, Mrs. Elmer Bell, Mr. Bell, and
their young son. Mrs. Bell accomp
anied them to Atlanta Sunday after

there with relatives.
The many friends of Councilman
Tom Jones regret to know that he was
stricken seriously ill again last Sun
day. Hope is expressed that he will
be restored to normal health in due
time. He Was taken ill several weeks
ago but had about regained his normal
health when he became ill again.

Thursday for a visit to Fdrt Pierce,
Fla., and other points on the Flori
da east coast. They were accompanied

Mrs. F. K. Jones, and son, -F. K., Jr.;
of Tifton, spent Tuehday and Wednes
day here with the former’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs. J. Mi Strange, and other
relatives.

Dr. and Mrs. J. B. Warnell returned
last week from Augusta, where the
latter underwent hospital treatment.
Her condition has not been very satis
factory this week, but hope is ex
pressed that she will soon be restored
to normal health.
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Richardson, of
Tampa, and Mrs. W. C. Hodges, of 1
Plant City, Fla., visited here a short
while Monday, enroute home, after at
tending the funeral of their uncle,
Mr. John Richardson, which Was held
in Donalsonville Sunday afternoon.

Signalman Marvin Sholar, of the
U. S. Navy, assigned to duty on the
U. S. S. Mississippi, sailed a few days
ago from New York City for two
years of service in Chinese and other
foreign Waters. He is a son of Mr.
and Mrs. S. C. Sholar, of Cairo.

Mrs. W. M. Tyson, and daughter,
Mrs. Bill Graham, left Wednesday to
visit relatives in Lakeland, Ga., until
Friday at which time they will return
home via Douglas and Miss Carolyn
Tyson and brother, Max, students at
Georgia Southwestern College, will
return home with them for the spring
holidays.

Mrs. L. S. Rentz left Thursday for
her home in Miami after visiting her
daughter, Mrs. Edwin Carlisle, here,
and other relatives in Ray City and
Valdosta, for the past two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Carlisle accom
panied her home to remain until Sun
day.
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Drew, of Los
Angeles, Calif., were the guests of
the former’s sister, Mrs. Ira Carlisle,
and other relatives and friends in this
county this week. They were en route
to Miami for a visit before returning
to California.

Mis Hazel Muggridge, a Cairo stu
dent at G. S. W. C., at Valdosta, was
chosen to model in the spring fashion
show at the college last Saturday. She
was also a nominee recently to be
queen of the college May Day Festi
val, Miss Elizabeth Garbutt, of Al
bany, being finally chosen for this
honor.

MRS. CARLISLE HOSTESS
WEDNESDAY.—
Mrs. Edwin Carlisle was a charm
ing hostess on Wednesday afternoon
when she entertained at bridge at the
Woman’s Club-house with her mother,
Mrs. L. S. Rentz, of Miami, and her
sister, Mrs. T. C. Teate, of Crestview,
Fla., as the central figures.
Crabapple and dogwood blossoms
from the 'woods and colorful pansies
formed the beautiful decorations for
the rooms.
St. Patrick’s Day was emphasized
in the tallies and refreshments.
Chicken salad, olives, sandwiches,
whole wheat crackers, mints and hot
coffee were served after the games.
The sandwiches were in the shape of
shamrocks and topped with green
cream cheese. The mints were also in
green and pansies were on each
plate.
The guests-of-honor wore corsages
of pansies.
Mrs. Rentz and Mrs. Teate Were
presented with sheer hose.
A dainty handkerchief was given to
Miss Anne Knight, of Jacksonville,
for visitor’s prize.
High-score prize, a crystal dinner
bell holding small bottles of perfume,
was won by Mrs. M. L. Mayes.
