PANAMA REFUSES TO APPROVE U. S. DEFENSE BASES: Washington, D. C.—(Soundphoto).—
President Truman conferred today with Brig. Gen. Frank T. Hines, center, on the Panamanian
Assembly’s refusal to approve U. S. defense bases. The envoy, shown talking to newsmen at the
White House, later expressed belief that a “satisfactory solution” will be achieved.
Princeton, will go to Savannah
Beach.
The Reverend Ward came to
the Attapulgus Charge in Novem
ber 1945 and has served into his
third conference year as pastor
of the churches at Attapulgus
and Calvary. He preached his
last sermon at Attapulgus Sun
day, at which time a large rep
resentation of the Calvary Church
attended. The pastor expressed
his gratitude to the members of
both churches for the fine co
operation they have given him
during his two years on the
charge.
The Attapulgus Methodist
Church has had given them an
organ, tower chimes and public
address system. Other physical
improvements during the past two
years on the church and parson
age constitute a total of approxi
mately $10,000.00.
The Calvary Methodist Church
has bought a piano, chimes, re
placed the roof and made other
miscellaneous repairs totalling
approximately $3,500.00.
It is with reluctance that the
congregations on the charge are
giving up the Reverend Ward.
Their close fellowship with the
pastor and his family have re
sulted in marked progress within
the community and an increased
membership in both churches.
