make a luscious meat pie:
Meat Pie Made With Riceland Rice
4 cups cooked Riceland Rice
1 onion, sliced
% teaspoon pepper
2 cups canned tomatoes
Vi teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon fat
1 pound leftover meat or raw,
ground meat
1 can peas or l package frozen
peas, cooked and buttered
Lemon slices for garnish
Melt fat in a skillet, add the
sliced onion, and if raw meat is
used, add and stir until the red
color disappears. Add tomatoes
ar >d seasonings after the onion
is browned, and heat through.
In a greased baking dish place
a layer of the cooked Riceland
Rice, approximately one-half of
it, next a layer of the meat, to
matoes and gravy, and last a
topping of a layer of the rest of
the Riceland Rice. Dot with fat,
add a border of cooked or canned
buttered peas and bake for 30
minutes in a 350 degree oven.

delicious servings of one cup

To Cook Riceland Rice: Put
2 cups of Riceland Rice, 2 tea
spoons of salt and 4 cups of cold
water in a large saucepan and
cover with a tight-fitting lid.
Set over a hot flame until it boils
vigorously. Then reduce the heat
as low as possible and simmer
for 14 minutes more, during
which time the water will be
absorbed, making the rice de
liciously tender. Remove the lid,
permit the rice to steam dry to
the desired consistency and the
grains will be separate and
fluffy. Always use Riceland Rice

down. Hopkins picked up three
yards over center and Sholar
broke away around left end for
12 yards for a first down. Mc
Corkle’s pass fell incomplete.
Sholar hit center for five yards.
McCorkle completed a pass to
Harper but Cairo was off sides
and the play was called back
and Cairo penalized five yards.
Hopkins picked up five yards
over center and McCorkle three
more yards over the right side of
the line but failed to make a first
down and the ball went over to
Colquitt on their own 15 yard
line.
Vines hit the center of the line
for two yards. Calhoun tried an
end run but failed to gain on the
last play of the first half. Score:
Cairo 7, Colquitt 13.
Gaya kicked off to Vines who
returned the ball to Colquitt’s 25
yard line. Roland hit center for
two yards. Vines completed a
pass’ to Tabb for six yards but
was thrown for a seven yard loss
on the next play by Hester. Vines
punted to Gaya who returned the
ball to Colquitt’s 45 yard line.
"McCorkle picked up nine yards
over center and Gaya two yards
more over the same place for a
first down, McCorkle broke
through the left side of the line
for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Rogers’ tried a pass for the extra
point but it was incomplete.
Score: Cairo 13, Colquitt 13.
Gaya kicked off to Wade who
returned the ball to Colquitt’s 31
yard line. Calhoun hit the center
of the line for two yards. Roland
completed a pass to J. T. Tabb
for nine yards and a first down.
Vines picked up 12 yards around
right end for another first down.
Vines completed a pass to J. T.
Tabb for seven yards and Cal
houn hit the center of the line
on two running plays for four
yards for a first down. Vines
completed a pass to J. T. Tabb for
23 yards and a first down. Vines
hit the center of the line for six
yards. Calhoun tried the center
of the line but was thrown for
a three yard loss. Vines took
the ball on Colquitt’s seven yard
line and broke throug center to
score the touchdown. An end
run failed for the extra point.

got loose on the following play
around left end for 11 yards for
a first down. Rogers picked up

left end* which was good for a
first down. Hopkins ran the re
maining 15 yards to score the
touchdown. Rogers scored the
extra point over center. Score

who returned the ball to Colquitt’s
28 yard line on the last play of
the third quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Calhoun picked up two yrads
over center and Vines made six
more around right end. Vines
completed a pass to J. T. Tabb
for four yards and a first down.
Calhoun picked up three yards
around left end but was topped
at the line of scrimmage on the
following play. Vines completed
a pass to Grimes for five yards
and Calhoun made it a first
down with a two yard gain over
the center of the line. Vines tried
a pass which was incompleted and
Harper broke through the line
