te six or eight cylinder engines and Hydra-Matic or synchro-mesh transmission. The Hydra¬

GRADY COUNTY BOY
ON USS TIGRONE.—
Norman L. Spears, fireman ap¬
prentice, USN, son of Mr. and
Mrs. W. E. Spears of Route 3,
Cairo, Ga., who is serving aboard
the submarine USS Tigrone in the
Mediterranean, may this Christ¬
mas change the conception many
Italian children have of Santa
Claus.
In the future, they will prob¬
ably envision Santa as an Ameri¬
can sailor aboard a warship, in¬
stead of the proverbial sleigh.
The reason is that plans have
been made for the crew of the
Tigrone to share their Christmas
with a group of underprivileged
children from Naples, Italy. Their
holiday entertainment will con¬
sist of a turkey dinner, a program
of carols and movie cartoon re¬
flecting the Christmas spirit, cap¬
ped by a visit from Santa with
gifts. Each child will also re¬
ceive candy and nuts and will be
taken on a conducted tour of the
ship.
The Tigrone is operating in the
Mediterranean with the Sixth
Task Fleet, under the command
of Vice Admiral John J. Ballen
tine.
