Prisoners Of War
In Foi" A Bonus
Average $800
If you happen to have been a
prisoner of war during the re
cent war, you may be in for a
windfall—about $800 may come
y0U r way within the next month.
POW’s will be paid $1 per day
for each day they suffered the
indignities of imprisonment in
World War H.
Legislation passed by Congress
soon after the war allows a dol
lar-a-day payment for days on
which American prisoners did not
get f 00 d rations equal to stand
ands set up by the Geneva con
vention.
The War Claims Commission
decided last week that Germany
and Japan never observed these
standards. . The average each
POW will receive is estimated at
$800. This bonus is due about
March 1.
