Safety Patrol Camp
To Be Erected Near
Lake Blackshear
A drive to raise $100,000 to build
a school safety patrol camp near
Cordele is a campaign for a safer
Georgia. This was the assertion
yesterday of Trooper J. T. McCall

Trooper McCall described his
plea as a “human” plea in that
it is “designed to save human lives
in our state and make our
ways a safer place for us and
our children.
The camp which is being

Veterans of Foreign Wars, and
the Georgia State Patrol, will be
constructed on the shores of Lake
Blackshear in Crisp County. It
will be erected on a portion of
State Veterans Memorial Park,
which has been donated for the
purpose by the State Parks De

In asking that local donors be
generous in their contributions,
Trooper McCall told of the plan
to train School Safety Patrolmen
from throughout Georgia at the
camp.
“We’ll send our leaders in the
School Patrol to this fine school
and at the same time give them
the trip as a reward for their
outstanding work in making our
community less wreck-infested
Some will go from this county
and you who give to this project
can say that you helped send
them.
The camp will include dormi
tories for both girls and boys,
boating and swimming docks on
Lake Blackshear, an athletic field
and huge dining hall. It will
commodate approximately 250
school Patrol members per every
14 days.
While attending the camp,
Patrolmen, will receive top-notch
instruction from Georgia State
Patrolmen, members of the Fed
eral Bureau of Investigation and
other law enforcement agencies.
Training at the camp will con-
