from all states and many nations
will be massed, There will be
participation by some mighty im
portant people. Notice, we said
participation, not speeches. The
Jamboree will move too fast to
allow for anv long speeches,
The second of the big events
will be the congregation of an
other event under the theme,
“Freedom of Religion”. Every
boy will have attended the sevrice
of his own faith that morning or
the day previous. The convoca
tion will symbolize the unity of
all faiths and their support of
Scouting. It will include music,
pagentry, and ceremonies, and
will be rounded out with boy ap
peal.
Next, on the fourth of July,
there will be one of the most
spectacular displays any Scout
may ever witness. The Scout who
shares this demonstration of pat
riotism and Scouting, garnished
with a colorful fireworks display
and other interesting features,
will come home briming over with
joyful pride in his nation. That
is a strong statement to make but
wait until you get there—you
will see it!
The final big show will be
somewhat nostalgic with an Auld
Lang Syne touch. There will be
music, the kind of folk lore songs
boys know and like, or would
like to know.
World brotherhood will be fea
tured in the massing of the flags
of every country which has
Scouting. Each Country repres
ented at the Jamboree will stage
a demonstration.
So much for the planned pro
gram. Now we come to the
Scout’s part in the program at
his own Jamboree. Your own
troop will no doubt put on some
demonstration or display, and if
you do it well enough you will
have an outstanding display flag
flown over your camp; that flag
will bring neighboring troops
over to your camp ti admile
your handiwork. Each Troop
will probably erect a gateway or
entrance to the troop site or work
with other troops in putting up
a high tension gateway to your
section.
You will have camp fires. You
will have visitors at your camp
fires. They will drop in a few
at a time until you find that you
are sharing them with Scouts
from all parts of our country and
from a dozen other lands. The
next few nights perhaps you will
go and perhaps visit with some
other troop’s campfire. Each
Scout will make excursions both
inside and outside Valley Forge
Park, but that is another story.
Each troop will probably build
some towers, monkey bridges,
show Scoutcraft skills, and pick
up some Scouting tricks that will
go over great back home. You
will have a wide range of fun
games and contests to choose
from. Yes, there will be plenty
of action at your Jamboree, don’t
get the idea that you will be
told what to do or when to do it.
There will be unlimited programs
and entertainment events to
choose from, and you yourself will
not only decide but will most cer
tainly devise many of them your
self.
If you are a Boy Scout and
have not registered for the Na
tional Jamboree, please see ycur
Scoutmaster or your Dirtrict
Chairman, or your Field Execu
tive at once and give him your
registration fees, so that you will
be assured of a place at the Na
tional Jamboree. This must be
done by March 1st. The registra
tion fees are $15. The total cost'
for the Jamboree will be $40
Jamboree fees, approximately
$37 railroad transportation to
Valley Forge, Pa. and return,
and about $12 for equipment and
supplies and food on the way to
Valley Forge. The total cost of
the Jamboree is approximately
$100 for each Scout who will go.
