The election for County Commissioners
will take place on the first Tuesday in next
month. Tha board will be composed of five
members, who are to be selected from among
the people.
It is gratifying to know that oar farmers
are taking an interest in improved agricul
tural implements. Beed diills, reapers, etc ,
will at no distant day be quite a feature of
our section.
Oua sanctum was enlivened yesterday by
the genial presence of Mr Torn Natt. of
Butts county. Mr. N. is one of the most
enterprising and pleasant gentlemen of oar
acquaintance.

Tbh October number of The Acanthus,
just received, contains a beautiful and touch
ing tribute to the memory of the late Miss
Minnie Nolly, which we would republish
this week, but want of space forbids.
Messrs. Beknhard have just erected a
saw-mill at tfaeir grist.mill on Towaliga,
which will be propelled by a ten horse
power engine, and are now prepared to saw
any and ail kinds of lumber per order.
All parties indebted to the old firm of
Turnipseed.A Guill, and to W. W Turnip
seed, are requested to come forward and set
tie immediately, and save trouble and ex

age of the Griffin Female College, the pres
ent term, is excellent. This is as it should
be. There is no need of patronizing schools
in other Btates while wc have such institu
tions at our very doors.

which an average of 54 bolls per stalk is yet
to Open The same gentleman has now
hoqsed 168 bushels of corn, with more to
gather, and will realise 10 bafaa of cotton—
all with one mule. Who caa beat that for
a one-horse farm ?

now as to who will or will not be candidates

ernor of tbe grent Btate of Georgia, bat are
exceedingly anxious that all and singular in
