It is needless for us to undertake to
say anything better or more sympathet
ic than has been said, for it is quite cer
tain that Henry W. Grady has had
more beautiful things said of him and
more sincere sorrow expressed for his
death than any Georgian who lias ] re
ceded him to ‘.‘the echolcs* shore" siuce,
the death of thu great commoner,
Alexander 11. Stephens, but notwith
standing all that has been said we feel
it does our sorrowful heart good to
drop a tear on his grave, and place one
more flower in his immortal wreath of
famo.
In the death of Mr. Grady the south
has lost a magic pen, and a silver tongue
is stilled that had no superior on this
comment. Earnest, chivalrous and pa
triotic, his soul aim was to promutt* the
wellbeing of his country mon.
Assaulted, as tins sonth was, by a
mercenary and merciless parti/anry,
who appealed to the passions and prej
udices of their sections, Mr. Gradv did
more and was doing more to dispel
these unjust illusions than any man
north or sonth. Ami thought, his no
ble soul has plume I its wings for a
flight in the Elysiin Fields, his gient
work as a pacificator will hear its
fruits ; and toonor or later the sordid
palms and seared consciences those to
whom he appealed will relax their
grasp and lieeome awakened to the
truth as he uttered it.
In the interest of peace and harmony
he saerafieed his noble young life. His
death, which has caused a wail to go
up from the south, should also inspire
every patriotic citizen to contribute
whatever hejs able to thu build a
monument to his tnemorv, the lofty top
of which should stand far above the
summit of grand pyramid of Cheops.
Rest in peace from thy orduous la
bors nobleman, for thou bast wrought
well, and thy memory will ever In
kept green in the hearts of thy people.
Iris to he greatly deplored that
clash between the races occurred at
Jessnp, and other manifestations of ill
will in other sections. While it is a
thing that does occur north between
the races, under existing circum
stances, a repuH'ean congress will not
lose the opportunity to make capital
out of it.

We give here, in a few words, the
gist of the law. All ballots are print
ed at the public expense. Each ballot
contains tne names of all the candidates
for ofliee of either party, with the
words “Democratic.” “Republican,”
•‘Prohibition,” etc.,opposite each name
to designate each candidate's politics.
One ballot is supplied to each voter,
and lie cannot have another unless lie
returns the first to the election officers,
i 1 he has spoiled it. When the voter
has received his ballot from the election
officers, lie must, while closeted alone
in the foxes prepared lor the purpose,
mark his ballot to suit himself. lie
must mark a cross—X—opposite the
name of each of the candidates for
whom he desires to vote. Mis vote
will not lie counted for any other can
didates than those whose names have
a cross (two lines intersecting each
other) inti iked opposite them with ink
or pencil.

I ate to day I would vomit tomorrow.
My sleep at night was broken with the
most horrible visions in dreams, so

twisted out of all proportion, and my

assistance.
The p i smire of a linger on my body

my other afflictions.
Two doctors treated me faithfully
during these four yea s but did me no

as I was with such a combination of
diseases.
In 1887 I discontinued the use of
