Rev. J. VY. Pogue, of Atlanta, will
preach at the Presbyterian Church
Sunday, slid will continue the services
three or four days. All are cordially
invited to attend.
“Old Guard’’ voices the sentiment
of the people when ho says, “It should
be the first duty of the people of the
county to pay Judge 'l'urner a reasona
ble salary. The present salary is en
tirely to small.
Miss Nannie Catmehael was in the
city Sunday in attendance of divine
services. Bob Morris was rendered
exceedingly happy, in that her radiant
smiles fell upon his joyous visage as he
chaperon'd her to and from worship.
Mr. James B. Oahb, an old ami
tespected citizen of this place died Sun
day night. lie had heou afflicted for
several years with imbecility. He was
as well as common at bed time, and
was taken violently ill and died in a
few hours.
Mr. Samuel Moss, well known to
the people of Henry couuty died at
his residence near town Saturday. He
leaves a large and respectable family
of sons and daughters. He was a
good man, and we shall miss him. His
remains were iuterred at this place.
She asked, “who is the prettiest
gentleman in town ?” and the other la
dv replied, “Jack Nolau, of course.”
“Yes," said the first speaker, “but he’s
married, and don’t count.’’ “Well.”
said the other, he may not count, hut
he is awful handsome, just the same.”
Mr. W. W. Duffey called our atten
tion to a mistake made by The Week
ly in publishing the names of dele
gates to the Decatur Convention. We
publish the list as corrected by him :

McDonald. The other delegates were
subsequently added and are correct.
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Dodson, of At
lanta, were the guest of the editor of
this paper last Sunday. Mrs. Dod
son, whose youth amt beauty makes a
considerable contrast with the some
what antiquated appearance of her hand
some liege lord, was mistaken by the
beaux of the town for his daughter.
Many of them were making arrange
ments for an introduction, but were
dumfounded to learn that she was a
married lady.
The many friends and relatives of
Mrs. Garret Oglesby were plunged in
to pro 'bund grief at her death, which
occurred Tuesday night. This good
woman had lived much longer than
most of the human family. She had
reared a large iamily of children, all
o f whom have attained their majority,
and aie ornaments to society. She
lived a consistent Christian life, and
died in tl.e Baptist faith. Her remains
were euterred at Ozias Church, follow
ed by numerous friends and relatives
to the last sad resting place.
We have it from good authority that
the Farmer’s Alliance of Rutts county

annual festival at the Masonic Hall

you to pieside over these festivities.”
Not being taken aback by a reasonable
question, he replied, “whv, I was iuvi
ted by the crowd.” “Well,” said
Sut, “you have done your whole fluty
to this party, and with the thanks of
this committee you are excused from
further attendance while we sojourn
hereabout. Good night, old partner ;
hope the monkeys wont chase you.”

sidering the possibility of building a
warehouse in the town of McDonough.

means to build a warehouse in the
town of McDonough.

report:
Resolved I. 'That the Alliances of
Henry county do buil<J a Warehouse in
the town of McDonough.
Resolved 11. That the warehouse
be built by subscribed shares of rock
of the Wlue of one dollar each; and
that any oue member be allowed to
hold as many as fifty shares, provider!
it may require so many to be held by
one menthol. Should the subscription
be superabundant then the fifty dollar
shares will be reduced in like propor
tion.
Report of committee was adopted. On
motion the president of each Alliance
in the county of Henry, interested in the
btiildiugof rvd warehouse, was ap
pointed on a committee to meet in the
town of McDonough on Friday, May
16, at one o’clock, for the purpose of
selecting a location and formulating a
p la it for said warehouse.
Also that the secretaries of said
lodges be appointed to solicit subscrip
tions from their several Lodges, and
report to the meeting on the first Tues
day iu June in McDonough.
Resolved that the county papers ho
requested to publish these proceedings.
