Mr. W. A. Turner attended the
joint discussion at Conyers last Mon

He says that Tom Watson is a shrewd
plausible ri-asoner, and a dramatic ora
tor, but that be could not stand before
the steady firo of facts, and the scatli
ing sarcasm that fell so readily
from the lips of “the only Leonidas,”
Mr. Turner estimates that, fully
two-thirds present were Democrats.
It is perhaps not generally known
by the many friends of Mr. M P.
Camp, formerly of the firm of Duncan a
Camp, that he has withdrawn from said
firm and is no longer connected with it
in any manner Vet. while he has no
connection with the old firm of Dun
can A Camp, his many Henrv county
friends will be pleased to know that he
will resume business on Broad street,
Atlanta, Ga., in a few weeks. There
are but few Henry couuty. people who
trade in Atlanta, that do not remember

Among other cases to he tried that
will be watched with interest, is that
of the three negroes, Hen Hivins, Hen
ry Harrison and Jim Schaelor, charged
with the murder of Capt. A. Sloan.

Presbyterian church Sunday morning
last. For two years this devout,

predict that the sun of his usefulness

bright rays of promise across the east
ern sky. On account of the down
pouring rain there were no services in
the evening,
“Henry county’s cotton crop is un
doubtedly short, and what has been
made is bringing ruinous low prices,
lint you can put it down in your fact
column,” said one of our best farmers
to a Weekly man recently, “that the
j majority of our farmers will have a
| plenty to eat and lots of it another
year. It has been a long time since
such a corn ciotias the present one
has been raised in old Henry. Be
sides that potatoes, peas and syrup in
abundance ; and more, than for many
years past, have rented out their smoke
bouse*- in the West, and are binding at
home.” Truly, the “darkest cloud has
a s ilver lining.”
The lazy days of Indian summer are
upon us ; those dreamy, hazy days
that cause the mind to drift out into
the world of fancy and conjure up
bright pictures, as the eye rests upon
the varied hues being assumed by the
leaves of the forest trees. it seems
that each giant oak, tall and graceful
poplar, and bending elm is vicing with
each other, as to which shall flaunt
the brightest liued banner before the
biting blast of Boreas shall strip them
again of their verdue ; thereby leav
ing a pleasant memory resting upon
the mimls of men that can be treasur
ed up among the pleasures of the past
and looked forward to with glad an
ticipation. The harvest is ripe, and
nature is bountifully pouring her of
ferings into the lap of man : and he
catching the inspiration, seems to ban
ish dull care, and the reflection of the
varie-colored foliage seems to radiate
rom his countenance. Truly, this is
