WEEKLY c . TDIES.

Do You Know ?
That thero are several wolves m
sheep's clothing roaming around iu this
world ?
That it is true to have one true, stead- j
fast friend than a dozen in whom you
could not confide the smallest secret ?
That life is sweet to him who drinks
only the pure wine of love and throws
away the dregs ?
That modesty is woman's richest j
jewel ?
That jealousy is poison to the soul
and will rob you of happiness and
health when cherished too much ?
That this world is filled with every
thing that is grand and ennobling ?
That prosperity ruins as many men
as poverty ?
That home should be the loveliest
and most attractive place under heaven ?
That the person who has no love for
wometf is worse than a fool and is devoid
of heart and tender emotions ?
That the man who never opens his
mouth is sometimes happier than the
one who laughs the loudest ?
That there is no meaner person than
the one who would profess friendship to
you and the next moment turn and
stab you with lies and falsehoods ?
That the man who says that life is
not worth living has always looked at
it from a pessimistic standpoint, has
never mixed and mingled with the best
part of the world, nor looked at life
through clear, crystalized glasses ?
That “life is love,” and the more
love we have for our fellow man the
sweeter life will seem ?
Good Hands.
That is a good band which is put
out to help some one who is fallen by
the way side.
That js a good hand which knows
how to make pain easier and headaches
vanish.
That is a good hand which knows
how to give heartily and freely.
That is a good hand which is put out,
tojhclp you or me as we walk along in
life, when we need home one to pro
tect us.
That is a good hand which never
wrote anything of which is was asham
ed, and which never puts its hand to
fraud and dishorn sty.
That is a good hand which helps
along the sick and weak, the helpless
and the poor.
That is a good hand which does its
work well; whatever it may be, wboro
ever it may lie, it doth not grow
weary and it doeth its work so it is
worth its wages.
We cannot rightfully claim to have
done great things, or to be above our
fellows in attained character ; but we
have a right to desire and to strive to
be and to do a great deal better than
♦hose around us. A 'ofty aim is
worthy of us, even though a lofty claim
is not so. “Sit not down in the popu
las seats and cotnon level of virtues,”
says Sir Thomas Browne, ‘ but endeav
or to make them heroieal.” It is not
enough to be as good as the average
man. Our striving should be after
completeness in character and spotless
ness in conduct. Anything below this
standard should be below our aspirations
and endeavors.

Bad blood is the first cause of much
ill health. If affects the brain, the
nerves, the heart, the luugs, the liver
and the kidney, livery organ of the
body becomes debilitated and there is
soreness and distress iu every portion

She YAaiileil to Maternal Love.
A Lush had fallen upon the assembly.
A medium sized woman with a slight
: rowth of whiskers was speaking earn
estly and persuasively. She was ad
dressing (he wives and mothers, and
her words of advice related to the man
agement of a house.
“I’e satisfied,” she urged, “with the
substance of power. Let it he enough
that you rule your household without
an ostentatious display of authority.”
She paused.
“Ma! ma !’’ An excited boy had
burst into the room and stood breath
less, with heaving breast and flushed
cheeks, just within the door. “Ma!
ma!” lie screeched. The medium-sized
women with a slight growth of whis
kers displayed evidences of great emo
tion. There was a noticeable pallor in
her face.
“Iu my own house ” She endeav
ored to be calm.
“Ma, come home!”
The excited boy had proceeded to
wasd the front, and it was plain that he
was addressing the medium-sized wo
men. Her voice trembled, but she
continued bravely :
“I am content to govern ”
“Ma, ma, baby’s crying and pa's
mad.”
The tremor iu the voice of the lady
with the slight growth of whiskers
grew more pronounced.
“And never insist ”
“Ma, ma, pa says if you don’t come
home in fifteen minutes he’ll break
your back.” The boy, hot and gasping,
stood before her.
“Why, Willie!” Her expraession of
countenance was suggest’vo of terror.
Her attempt to appear surprised was a
conspicuous failure.
“Ma, baby’s crying and pa ”
“Hush !” She turned to the audi
ence. “Maternal love,” she remarked,
with a groat effort at self-repression,
“is the strongest impulse known to hu
manity. You must excuse me. Igo to
ray child.”
When they saw how very anxious
she was to get home they could not

People with hair that is continually
falling out, or tlioso that are bald , can
stop the falling, and get a good growth
of hair by using Hall’s Hair Ilenewer.
When the hair begins to come out in
combing, it shows a weakness of the
scalp that calls for immediate attention.
The best preparation to arrest further
loss of hair and restore the scalp to a
healthy condition is Ayer’s Hair Vig
or.
There is no way of making a perma
neut succoss in this world without giv
ing an honest equivalent for it.
The Testimonials
Published in behalf of Hood's Sarsapa

They are facts, and prove that Hood’s
Sarsaparilla possesses absolute merit
and is worthy the full confidence of the
people.
Hood’s Pills are purely vegetable,
perfectly harmless, effective, hut do
not cause pain or gripe. Be sure to
get Hood’s.

One reason why Scott's Emulsion of Pure Nor
wegian Cod Liver Oil and Hypophosphites of Lime
and Soda has had such a large sale is because it is
‘‘Almost as palatable as milk;” but the best reason is
that its curative properties are unequalled. It cures
the cough, supplies the waste of tissues, produces
flesh and builds up the entire system.
