WEEKLY 8 TIMES. J. A. FOCCUE, Kdltor. Entered at tlie postoffice at McDonough Ga., as second-class mail matter. McDonough. Ga., Dec. 16, 1892. The foulest blot upon the fa : r name of Georgia is the present inhuman con vict lease system. We are in favor of punishing criminals, but don’t believe it is right for a few speculators to hire them at 15 cents per day and do the punishing themselves. The present method brings convict labor iu direct competition with free labor. It simply helps those who need no help, and oppresses those who need no oppres sion. Let each county take its own convicts and put them at work upon the public highways. This is one of many ways to improve the convict lease system. —Ex. The home fireside is the most sacred spot on earth, and happy is the man who gathers his wife and little ones around it knowing that it is his own and that there they are secure from all harm. The man who wants to be a good citizen and to do his duty in this world, cannot begin better*than by lay ing all his plat s and exercising all his energies to porcure a home he can call his own. Did you every buy a horse and not have some misgivings as to his points till they were fully tested '( Not so with Ayer’s Sarsaparilla ; you may be sure of it at the start. It never disap points those who give it a fair and per sistent trial. The farmers of the South are not wholly to blame for the scarcity of mon ey in the South. Indeed their iharo of the blame is the smallest. The money sent out for dry goods, shoes, hats i clothing, wagons, buggies harness, farm implements and hundreds of other man ufactured articles is vastly more than the money sent for food supplies. These things the farmers canuot pro duce, but the men who live in the towns and cities can. Let’s “cuss” the cap italists a little while wo are “cussing” the farmers. Feeble and capricious appetites are best regulated by the use of Ayer’s Cathartic Pills. They do not debili tate, by excessive stimulation; but cause the stomach, liver, and bowels to perform their functions properly. As an after dinner pill, they are unequuled. I. (here nlt canon ? Is there a reason why you should re main an invalid, a discomfort to your self and those around you ? You say you have lost faith in medicine, and that doctoring does you no good. You are to be pitied for it is not you but the improper treatment you have received that is the fault. However, do not die pair medicine has not lost its virtue. Yet, to get well, you must, take the Right medicine. Try hr. .101 l n Itn I I'm Mansi |>a rlllii. It has cured many and will cure you. It is a quick rebuilder of broken down constitutions. My wife suffered from weakness and became an invalid. No medial treatment seemed to benefit her, and she had poor health for years. Some six mouths ago, a neighbor induced her to try Dr. John Bull’s Sarsaparilla, and the change in her health and appearance almost seem ed like a mircale.” An extraordinary number of young ladies are now becoming missionaries.
