HEQSY WEEKLY:

Ga , ae second-class mail matter.
McDonough. Ga., March 20.1895
________
Mitchell county voted on the prohi
bition question, last Saturday, and it
went wet by 127 majority.
Official statistics show that at least |
100,000 persons in Nebraska will have
to be supported by charity till another
crop is raised.
Gen. C. A. Evans has accepted the
invitation of the ladies memorial asso
ciation of Macon, and will deliver the
address on memorial day.
The New Yoik Journal remarks that
extremes meet. Sockless Jerry Simp
sou is to be replaced in congress by a
dressy young man who buys bis hosiery
by the dozen.
Col. James M. Smith’s large gin
nery, in Oglethorpe county, was des
troyed by fire last week, consuming
with it 350 bales of cotton, five huu
dred tons of cotton seed, and a car load
of bagging and ties.
The Crown cotton mills, Dalton,
will add at once another mill fifty by
seventy-five feet, 3 stories high, and
with 535,0°0 more machinery, making
a completed 10,000 spindles mill, em
ploying 600 hands.
Thousands of plows are now cutting
their way through soil which has been
mellowed by the recent freezes and
fertilized by the heavy snows. Karm
work has begun 4 in earnest, and unless
all signs fail this will b« a glorious crop
year in Georgia.

It surprised many visitors to the
Chicago World’s Fair to find that ol
all the blood purifiers, Ayer’s Sarsapa
rilla was the only one on exhibition.
The rcasou is that Ayer’s Sarsaparilla
is a standard remedy, and not a patent
medicine, or secret nostrum.
Editor Hale has sold out the <’ou
yers Weekly, to Mr. J. B. Reese, an
experienced newspaper man, and gone
to inditing plow linos to a gray mule in
a cotton and corn field. Editor Hale
has been advising farmers how to farm
for a long while, and now we expect to
see him grow rich in the reform be
will inaugurate. He will introduce the
best breeds of rutabaga pigs, and if
hiss cotton trees blossom and thrive in
turning out the fleecy staple, and bis
egg plauts yield abundance of eggs, and
bis goats prove good butter makers,
then he will demonstrate that farming
does pay.—Marietta Journal.
Factories Better Than Bonds.
Major J. F. Hanson, talkiug to a
reporter of the fcavauuah Press, said :
“Instead of going ahead and placing
our money in factories, which we say
will pay 20 per cent, on the invest,
meut, we buy Georgia 2J per cent,
bonds ftt par or above. Does that look
encouraging to those who might come
among us ? “What we in the South
want,” said Major Hanson, “is compe
tent men in evary line of manufacture,
and our people must be taught to in
vest in our enterprises. They will do
this when the safety of such invest
ments are insured ; not before. There
is home money enough if properly in
vested, aid talent enough among us
here, if properly trained, to succeed in
many useful lines of production. The
lesson that the South wants to learn
more than all others," Major Hanson
concluded, “is selfreliance. Wlieu that
lesson is thoroughly learned over half
the battle of putting factories and oth
er industries in the South will he
won.”
The Way to Do It.
Talk up your town and don’t go
around blowing about the business de
pression.
Suppose trade is dull, you can’t make
it any livelier by proclaiming that fact
from the house tops. Stir it up vour
self if it is dull, and keep it moving
and sizzling. Don’t hoard your money
aud live on bread aud water, but spend
it freely.
In this way you make good times,
aud a big share of them will fall oil
your own plate before you know it,
correctly says an exchange.

Theie is only <ne way to cure deaf
ness, and that is by cotisdilntional
remedies. Deafness is caused by an
inflamed condition of the mu eons lin
ing of the Eustachian Tube. When
this tube is inflamed yon have a rum
bling sound or imperfect hearing, ami
when it is entirely close-1. Deafness
is the result, and unless the inflamma
tion can be taken out ami this tu'-e
restored to its normal condition, hear
ing will be destroyed forever; nine
cases out of ten are causel by catarrh,
which is nothing but an inflamed con
dition of the mucous surface.
We will give One Hundred Oallars
