The advance in leather has obliged
manufacturers to make a corresponding
advance in the price of shoes, with
probably, the only exception of W. L.
Douglas, who, notwithstanding the
high price of leather, will continue at
the old prices, and give a better shoe
than ever before. The recent addi

liis plant the largest iu the world de
voted to manufacturing an exclusive
line of shoes.
Mr. Stephen B. Kinard will soon

on last Sunday at his home uear Flip

his bowels were attacked, and the en

unfortunate one and his faithful com

To Whom It May Concern.
The Teachers Institute will be held
the third week in September, 16th to
20th. All teachers holding license to
teach, unless they expect to permanent
ly retire from the profession, are re
quired by law to be present, or be sub
ject to a fine imposed by the Board of
Education. The State School Com
missioner has been kind enough to
grant us the privilege to defer the In
stitute until this late date, believing it
to be to the interest of the majority of
the schools, so let all try to be present.
Hon. G. R. Glenn, State School
Commissioner, will be with us on Fri
day, the 20tb, aud will give us some
thing good on the school questions of
the day. Let all the trustees of
schools, aud every patron iu the county
