A little fairy came to the home of
Mr. Percy Bankston last week, and as
she has shown no disposition to return,
1 suppose she esteems new sorghum
“lasses” above all the dainties of Fairy
land.
Messrs. John and Oscar Dukes of
Orchard Hill, visited relatives here

llooteu, and Misses Lizzie Hooten,
Ozella Wynn, Aunie Manly aud Miss
Carrie Maun of Atlanta, who is visit

Indian Spring camp meeting last Sat

Mrs. R. C Manly says that on her

the trip as otherwise she might have
done.

Snapping Shoals Methodist aud __ Fair

some of the neighbors say they would
subscribe liberally to the building of a
Primitive Baptist church at Rockwall
cemetery aud though 1 am what some
people call a “bard case” aud what Dr.
Talmagc would call a nothingarian, I
am ready to report the work to Tin

Pattons of Mt. Bethel school meet
today (Tuesday) to decide their choice
of a teacher for next year, aud as Prof.
Tom Marston has given general satis
faction in the past, aud is both a gen
tleman aud a scholar, an excellent tu
tor and disciplinarian he will doubtless
be the man selected.
In verses 23 to 25 of chapter xx 11
of Job, all may find a complete key to
the money question, and indeed to the
whole question of material prosperity,
for as one must look beyond the build
ing of rival denominations, on the sau
dy foundations of human creeds for the
true church and kingdom of Christ, so
we must look beyond the party strife
of rival political partisans for peaceful,
prosperous civil government. This
looking beyond is not meant after the
non-partisan idea of the populists, the
majority of whom go shouting non-par
tisanship, while they follow after the
most corrupt leaders, and accept what
ever these leaders say without question,
so that while they promise us civil hb
erty, they themselves are the servants
of political corruption. Uckai..

Another murder .vas committed iu
Tussahaw district last Saturday, night
which makes the third murder iu this
section in the last few years. So tar
as we have learned the particulars are
about tbis : It seems that a crowd of
uegroes were gambling when a dispute
arose, in which nearly all were iuvolved
a fight insued, which resulted in a ne
gro by the name of Sandy Murphy
gettiug cut to death. The murder
occured near Mr. K. M, Bryans resi
dence, and after he was cut he ran
about 50 yards down the branch from
where he was cut, aud was found the
next morning dead. An investigation
was begun uext morning, which result
ed in Bailiff Hand arresting Gable
Grant, John Wise, Monk Wise aud
Jauo Wise, mother of the Wise boys,
who were, held iu custody until an
inquest could be held over the body
of Murphy. The coroner not being
close by, the inquest was held by Jus
tice J. T. I,aney in the absence of the
coroner. Tbe jury found Monk 'Vise
guilty of murder, and released the
others that were arrested. The par
ticipauts were all colored, aud the cir
cuinstauceß point that plenty of new
peach brandy was on hand at the time,
which perhaps accounts for the trouble.
