THE HENRY COUNTY WEEKLY-EXTRA.
Mr. Paul Turner’s cup of earthly
joy is complete—a bouncing baby boy
at his house last week.
Rev. R C. Manley was iu the city
yesterday and informs us that he will
not move to Zebulou just yet
Mr. Robert Howell came up from
Florida and spent a few days with bis
wife at Col. Zachry’s last week.
Several have stepped in ami handed
us their fall subscriptions the past
week, for which we return thanks.
Others are cordially invited to follow
the worthy example
Miss Sadie Blankenship, a daughter
of Mr. Bill Blankenship, has acc«’m
plished what but few of even the stout
est men can do, clearly demonstrating
that Henry county has at least one
young lady very active as well as indus
trious. She picked four hundred and
three pounds of cotton one day last
week.
Business Open.
Trade has been (juite lively during
the past week, and the busy season is
now fa.ii ly open. A considerable
quantity of cotton has been brought
iu, which met with prompt sales at
good prices. Consequently a good
sprinkling of money is put into circu
lation, more or less indebtedness liqui
dated, and there is considerable activi
ty in business circles. McDonough is
sustaining her reputation as one of >.be
leading cotton markets, aud will keep
it up throughout the season. Her
buyers are thorough cotton men, and
the prices they pay are always in the
lead.
Bring your cotton to McDonough,
where you will meet with the best of
treatment by handlers and buyers.
T heir facilities are first class, and you
will get the best treatment to be had.
Six-Cent Cotton Ode.
Mr. Editor : This was our song in
May aud Juue :
“Let cares like a wild deluge come,”
Let cotton to 5 cents fall ;
We’ve done sold ours for 6 cents per
pound
Tu clever Mr. Tom Nall.
But October has come and we’ve
changed our tune :
Oil, drive these dark clouds from my sky—
Cotton to 5 cents would not fall ; .
“Lord, take me to thee up on high,”
Where 1 never may see Tom Nall !

Cotton going up in price, anil no
wonder, for they can’t say there is an
over productien this time. 1 think it
is the shortest, cotton crop that has been
made, since the war.
It was our pleasure to visit McDou
ougV and the association last Sunday a
week ago. Uncle Jack Caiup, one of
Clayton's best citizens, weDt with us
and it always affords us great, phasure
to visit McDonough on any large gain
eting, for we know there are no more
sociable people on earth. They are
able to take care of a large crowd, and
it seems a plsasure to them to see to it
that everybody is well cared for when
they visit their town. Eor hospitality
j the world can’t beat McD<>nougb. (
We wet - proud to shake the hand

May peace aud happiness follow him
