Niue Cent Cotton!
The cotton market ha* jumped up
again this week, aud McDonough buy
ers are paying that price for good mid
dling as we go to press Thursday eve
ning. This price has been paid for
ordinary two or three days, and Mr.
D. J. Green sold thirty six bales at 9
cents Wednesday to the Fields & lieu
slee Co.
Hurrah for good times !

Mr W illie McDonald of Frisky visi
ted relatives (?) in this neighborhood
Sunday.
Misses Liunie and Loola Welch ol
Sandy Ridge visited friend in this
vicinity Sunday.
Rev. J. T.Loyal filled his regular
appointment at Mt Bethel Saturday
and Sunday, preaching ou Sunday
night also.
Miss Mattie Lou Smith of near
Wynn’s Mill attended preaching at
Mt Bethel Sunday.
Messrs. John and Joe Hays of Rape
worshiped with Mt Bethel church Sun
day.
The condition of Mr. Frank Savage,
whose illness was mentioned last week
is slightly improved.
Rev. Jack Cowan of Peidmoiit, S.
C., gave relatives here a pop call last
week while on his way to attend a cou
ference in Indiana. Two of his child
ren, Master Charlie and little Miss Her
tha, who accompanied him this far, are
stopping with relatives here till his
return from the west.
On Tuesday eveuing of last week
the grim messenger of death laid his
icey hand on little Leonard, a two year
old child of Mr. aud Mrs. Cam Bled
soe, and claimed him as his victem, after
only a few hours illness of croup. His
mortal remains were consigned to their
last resting place in Mt Bethel hurry
ing gronud on the day following his
death, after an appropiate funeral ser
vice conducted by Rev. Jeff Bledsoe of
McDonough. The bereaved and grief
stricken parents have th e sympathy
of the writer. May they find com
fort in the certain knowledge that their
darling sleeps the sleep of the innocent
and will be among that number of
whom it is said “Blessed are they that
shall have part in the first ressurrec

On last Saturday afternoon Prof.
Tom Marston was re-elected for teacher
of Mt Bethel school for another year
by a majority vole of the patrons, or
at least a mnjjrity of as many of them
as would take interest enough to vote
at all. Now if they desire to have a
good flourishing school at Mt Bethel
they should give Prof. Marston their
undevided pattonage and hearty co
operation. For no teacher can build
up a school, no preacher a church, nor
no business man a town with oue half
of the community puling against him.

A Fine Lecture.
Dr. Hall, a iec’urer of national r> p
uiation, favored McDonough with a
visit last Saturday night, and those
who beard him unanimously pronounc
ed hit lecture, “How to Get Married
and Stay So" the best they ever beard.
It blended the choicest of oratory, sen
timent and humor in such a manner
as to completely captivate his audience
anil an attempt to describe it could but
result in failure —it must be heard to
be appreciated.
I)r. Hall’s audience were so charm
ed with him they expressed a strong
desire to hear him again, and persuad
id him to return. He will therefore
be heie to-night (Friday) and his sub
ject will be either “Happy Homes.” or
“Travels of the Fool Killer."
Whatever the silbj-'Ci, his hearers
tnav rest assured of a rare treat.
From the enthusiasm of his audience
last (Saturday nigh', his house will be
running over to-night.
Go out, aud you will not regret it.

Some of our farmers say they will

Mr. A C. Sowell has moved his
