I MISS YOU, DEAR.
When morning’s light first tints the gray of
dawn,
And sleepless eyeß tell day is here,
And all the world is stirring into life,
Then is the time I miss you, dear.
When noontime comes and brings its hour
of rest
From busy toil, so full of care and fear;
When man so needs the solace of a smile;
9 hen is the time I miss you. dear.
When twilight falls and all the world is still,
When echoes come from far and near,
And sighing w inds lull weary souls to rest,
Then is the time I miss you, dear.
Through every moment of the lagging day,
So long, without vour words of cheer,
And when, at night, I kneel me down in
prayer,
Then is the time I miss you, dear.

How to Prevent Croup.
SOME READING THAT WILL PROVE
INTERESTING TO YOUNG MOTHERS,
j HOW TO GUARD AGAINST THE DIS
j EASE.
Group is a terror to vouug mothers
j and to post them concerning the cause
first symptoms and treatment is the
object of this item. The origin of
croup is a common cold. Children
who are subject to it take cold very
easily and croup is almost sure to fol
low. The first symptom is hoarseness;
this is soon followed by a peculiar
rough cough, which is easily recogniz
ed and will never be forgotten by one
i who has heard it. The time to act is
when the child first becomes hoarse.
If Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy is
freely given all tendency to croup will
soon disappear. Even after the croupy
cough has developed it will prevent the
attacK. There is no danger in giving
this remedy for it contains nothing in
jurious. For sale by medicine dealers.

From Our Wandering Boy.
Every parent who has a boy far
away from his childhood’s home is ev
er glad to get a letter from his far off
boy. In connection with his letter he
seuds us a photograph of a pare d of
men capturing a whale, the sceuery as
represented in the picture being quite
interesting. This letter was written at
liiverhead, on the 28th of September,
and came by way of San Francisco.
liiverhead is about 30 miles from Auc
laud, one of the largest commercial
points on the island of New Zealand
YVe recognized our boy in the picture,
away up on the whale with a spear, or
a long wooden crowbar, as though
he were trying to exterminate the
monster sea fish. He don’t speak of
returning home soon. W. T. G.

A Handsome Fee.
In running around town in searcli of
a hit of news we happened to call in
at the office of Col. E. IS. Bryant, one
of our prominent attorneys, and in an
swer to our inquiry for the news, the
Colonel, with a smile playing over his
face, remarked: “Yes; I have a bit of
news 1 collected oue of the most re
markable lees today 1 ever did in my
life. A young man came in and hud
a consultation with me iu regard to a
large estate, aud after hearing him
through 1 was satisfied that there
would.be uo litigation over the matter,
and of course thought myself entitled
to a right uice fee for consultation, etc,
and in reply to my client 1 stated that
as 1 was sure uo litigation would come
of the matter, that I made my living
by my profession, and would leave the
matter to him in regard to the fee. lie,
my cliint, raised up from his chair and
said: ‘l’m a liberal man and want to
do right; here’s a Dickie for your
trouble.’ ” —Lawrenceville Herald.
■Six weeks ago I suffered with a very
severe cold ; was almost unable to
speak. My friends all advised me to
consult a physician. Noticing Cham
herlain’s Cough Remedy advertised in
the St. Paul Volks Zeitung I procured
a bottle, and after taking it a short
while was entirely well. I now most
heartily recommend this remedy to any
one suffering with a cold. Mm. Keil,
