uncle, the editor, while on a visit to
the exposition.
Mr. W. J. St. Johu, one of the sub
stantial citizens of the Peeksvflle com
munity, was in the city yesterday, and
paid hia respects to The Weekly with
a year’s subscription.

Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Green of AtlaD
ta, Mr. Will Green of Columbns, and
Mr. Arnold Masberg of Chicago, spent
the day most delightfully with Dr.
Campbell and family last Sunday.
Mr. Paul Turner was called to At
lanta by telegram last Friday, to see
his little daughter Ruth, who was quite
ill, but we are pleased to note that the
little one is now out of danger, and
getting along very nicely.
Mrs. G. D. Kitchens returned to her
home in Atlanta last Friday, after a
wet k’s visit to her parents in this city.
She was accompanied by her sisters,
Misses Mamie and l iny Maxwell, who
will remain with her uutil after Christ
mas.

26th of December. Mr. Nash is a

Christmas Tree.
The committee appointed from the
different Sunday Schools to arrange
the holiday entertainment, have gotten
up a Christmas Tree, which will be
given at Institute hall next Tuesday
night, Christmas Five.
It is a union entertainment, and ev
erybody is earnestly, personally aud
cordially invited to contribute every
present possible, thus aiding in the
success of the occasion as designed, by
bringing happiness to the children for
this (to them) grea'est of all events
F.xercises begin at 7 o’clock, and it is
specially requested that all presents be
sent to the hall as early iu the fore
noou Tuesday as possible, with card
for whom iutended plainly written, iu
order that nothing may be misplaced
aud the opeuing begin promptly at the
hour. Let no one fail to contribnte
something.

nice Harris and Miss Tallie Johnson
was consumated in the Methodist
church at Fiippi n, at 6 o’clock on
Wednesday evening, the ceremony be
ing impressively performed by Rev. J.
A. Thurman, and witnessed by a large
number of frieuds and relatives of the
popular young couple.
The church was exquisitely deco
rated in holly and fern, presenting a
scene of loveliness perL ctly iu harmo
ny with the happy event.

The bride and groom left on the 7
o’clock train for Atlanta, where they
boarded the through vestibule for a
bridal trip to Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Harris begin w>dded
life under the brightest auspices, anil
with the treat wishes of a host of ad
miring friends.

is told that a lady took ler 4 year old
to >!.e photographer. Of course the
child couldn’t he made to sit still.
He of the camera vainly worked every
device of gentle persuasion upon the
little wiggler, and finally said to the
despairing mother ;
“.Madam if you will leave the little
dear with me a few moments 1 think 1
can succeed.”
The mother had scarcely withdrawn
when -he was summoued back by the
triumphant photographer, who exhibi
ted a sa isfactorv negative. When
they reached home the mother asked :
“Annie, what did the man say to
you when 1 lelt you alone with him.''''
