Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Green of Allan
ta, Mr. Will Green of Columbus, and
Mr. Arnold Masberg of Chicago, spent
the day most delightfully with Dr.
Campbell and family last Sunday.
Mr. Paul Turner was called to At
lanta by telegram last Friday, to see
his little daughter Ruth, who was quite
ill, but we are pleased to note that the
little one is now out of danger, and
getting along very nicely.
Mrs. G. D. Kitchens returned to her
home in Atlanta last Friday, after a
week’s visit to her parents in this city.
She was accompanied by her sisters,
Misses Mamie and Tiny Maxwell, who
will remain with her until after Christ
mas.
Cards are out announcing the mar
riage of Miss Mary Rowan of Flippen
to Mr. J. M. Nash of Inman, on the
26th of December. Mr. Nash is a
prominent gentleman of our sister
county, Fayette, and Miss Mary being
oue of Henry’s most estimable daugh -
ters, the union will be a vtry happy

Christmas Tree.
The committee appointed from the
different Sunday Schools to arrange
the holiday entertainment, have gotten
up a Christmas Tree, which will be
given at Institute hall next Tuesday
night, Christmas Eve.
It is a union entertainment, and ev
erybody is earnestly, personally and
cordially invited to contribute every
present possible, thus aiding in the
success of the occasion as designed, by
briugiug happiness to the children for
this (to them) grea'est of all eveots
Exercises begiu at 7 o’clock, and it is
specially requested that all presents be
sent to the halj as early in the fore
noon Tuesday as possible, with card
for whom intended plainly written, in
order that nothing may be misplaced
and the opening begiu promptly at the
hour. Let no one fail to contribute
something.

The happy marriage of Mr. J. Clar
ence Harris and Miss Tallin Johnson
was cousumated in the Methodist
church at Flippi n, at 6 o’clock ou
Wednesday evening, the ceremony be
ing impressively performed by Rev. J.
A. Thurman, and witnessed by a large
number of friends and relatives of the
popular young couple.
The church was exquisitely deco
rated in holly aud fern, presenting a
scene of loveliness perfectly in harmo
ny with the happy event.
Mr. Harris B Carmichael was best
man and Miss Birdie Daniel brides
maid.

The bride and groom left on the 7
o’clock train for Atlanta, where they
boarded the through vestibule for a
bridal trip to Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Harris begin w<dded
life under the brightest auspices, and
with the best wishes of a host of ad
miring friends.
The Photographer’s Ituse.
We won’t say it was Guthrie, but it
is told that a lady took her 4 year old
to the photographer. Of course the
child couldn’t be made to sit still.
He of the camera vainly worked every
device of gentle persuasion upou the
little wiggler, and finally said to the
despairing mother :
’’.Madam if you will leave the little
dear with me a few moments 1 think I
can succeed.”
The mother had scarcely withdrawn
when "be was summoned back by the
triumphant photographer, who eihibi
ted a sa'isfactory negative. When
they reached home the mother asked :
“Annie, what did the man say to
you when 1 left you alone with hirn ?”
“He timid,” Isped little Atuie,
“iLit tbtfll, you little ratbcal, or I’ll
w ear }ou out!”
