Principles Never Die.
It is said that a drummer boy war
once ordeied to beat a retreat. He re
plied: “I do not know how to beat s
retreat, but I can beat a charge.” I'
is so wiih the Democratic party. I
doesn’t know bow to retreat, but it
kuows how to make a charge. Watch
the serried columns as the clans gather
and move forward in solid phalanax,
when the ba'tle opens this summer.
The party has bean defeated in the
past, but never subdued. It, and its
principles, are eternal as the everlast
ii.g hills. The very foundation of the
republic rests upon Democratic prin
ciples. Men die and pass away, but
principles never. The principles and
spirit of Jefferson, Jackson, aud a host
of immortal statesmen who trained
with, and after them, still live. These
remarks are still true and we expect
to see the Democrats of Georgia rally
to a mau to priseive good governmeut
and perpetuate Democratic principles.
