McDonough. Ga., May 29, 1890
St. Louis was struck by a cyclone
yesterday, ami the wreck and ruins re
ported is horrible.
The members of Congress have lie
gun to consider an adjournment it
will tako them a mouth to settle the
question.
Charley Brauan declines to discuss
with Livingston ou the stump. This
is good evidence that lirauau is a far
seeing man.
Last Wednesday the prisoners in
Dekalb jail made a break for liberty
and two of them escaped.
The race between .Judge Boynton
and Col. Mills in Spalding is said to be
growing iii interest, with the sentiment
in favor of Judge Boynton, we under
stand.
t
The Newton county democratic pri
mary for county olfi cors, together
with expression for l . S. Senator and
Congressman will not lie hold uutil the
11 th of July.
An order that will save the fruit
growers of Georgia hundreds of dollars
has been issued by the state railroad
commission. It reduces the rate on
canned fruits and canned vegetables
about one half.
It is suggested that blind bridles be
put upon all Congressmen to prevent
them looking back at their chances at
home while trying to perform their du
ties at the capital.
Toombs, Stephens and Hill are be
ing called much mto evidence on the
financial question. And it developes
that the expressions of these great
minds can be viewd from difTereut
standpoints.
Tom Delk was put ou trial in Zebu
lon this week and quick work made
of his case. The jury was out just
half an hour and returned a verdict of
guilty, Judge Beck sentencing him to
hang on the 19 th of June, iu private.
As we go to press the old man has uot
been tried, tint will doubtless shaift the
same, fate.
Adjutant General Kell has received
an invitation from the committee in
charge of the Confederate Veterans
reuuton at Richmond, urging him to ex
tend a request to all of the troops ol
this state to visit liichmoud during the
reunion and participate in the great
celebration. The round trip fare is
ou'y §ll.
State Convention Delegates.
Mr. Editor:—l notice in the last is
sue of your paper suggestion for voting
for delegates to the State Convention
iu the primary ou the Oth day of June.
Doubtless in a suggesting th'e names of
delegates to be voted for, the writer
of the article failed to examine the
order of the executive committee call
ing the primary. Neither in the origi
mil order passed on the Ist Tuesday iu
April nor the amended order passed on
the 21st day of April is there anything
said about voting for delegates to the
State Convention. The Executive
Committee has uot authorizad the selec
tion of delegates iu said primary, but
the purposes of the same are contiued
to the nomiuation of senator, repre
sentative and county officers, and the
expression of a preference for U. S.
Senator. Thetefore no vote can be
had for delegates to the state conven
tion iu the June primary.
They could only be voted for by ex
press order of the Executive Committee
and as no such order has been passed,
and attempt to select delegatee by bal
lot on that day would be null aud
void.
It seems to me that the Executive
Committee should meet aud order their
selection ou the 6th of Juue, or call a
mass meeting later for the purpose as
may seem to them proper and expe
dient, as delegates to the Congres
sional Convention will have to be se
lected at the same time. ' I have no
interest in the matter save that of eve
ry democrat, and trust I will not be
considered out of order iu writing the
above. Very respectfully,
E. J. Reagan.
Electric Bitters.
Electric Bitters is a mediciue suited
for any season, but perhaps more gen

is torpid and sluggish and the Deed ot a

long and perhaps fatal bilious fevers.

Death of Mrs. Bailie Susan Florence.
LATE OK COBB COUNTY OA.
Iu writing this brief tribute to the
memory of Mrs. Florence, I want to
say we were children together all of
sixty years agoue. She waH the oldest
daughter of Mr. Audy Turner, who
was kuown as a prominent citizen of
Henry county for a half century. Ev
ery member of that family were inti
mately kuown to the writer, aud the
iast one, save the youngest sou, has
•‘gathered at the ltiver.” There were
but two daughters aud four sous that
lived to be grown. Miss Susan was
married to Mr. Webster Florence of
Cobh county about forty years ago.
Mr. F. Died last Juue at his late home
leaving his faithful companion with
•everal children to lament their serious
loss. Unit a few weeks ago oug of
the daughters who had just attained to
youthful womauhood, heard the tiuk
litig of the ftell that called her across
the uarrowlsea. With all of these
clouds of aZrrow gathermg so thick and
fast over tpo burdened heart of the
way worn toother, how could she longer
couteud with the storm? As we are
informed just oue week ago to night
the death angel rang the bell, calling
Mrs. Sallie Webster Florence from
this laud of fading flowers to a brighter
summer laud, where the flowers laden
with sweetest perfume, never wither
and fade. We think when those two
sisters met at the pearly gate there was
a shout of rejoicing that attracted the
attention of every member of the fami
ly who were waiting to welcome her
coming. One by one they are gather
ing home. They will soou all be ready
for the roll call. The beloved old
mother Turner was the first to go, forty
six years agone; then oue after oue ’til
only one may be remaining. If there
is any laud beyond, any home where
we shall live agaiu, that most excellent
oue milling the best of all worneu, the
beloved old mother Turner, has keen
accounted worthy of a glorious enter
atice iuto our Father's many mansiou
house.
We hasten now to close this imper
feet tribute to the memory of her old
cst daughter Mrs. Webster Florence.
They tell me she is now restiug in her
grave. As I look out fiom my place
of writing, 1 see the glimmering moou*
light shedding its beclouded rays over
the stillness of the night. May dowers
of richest hue and sweetest fragrance
ever bloom around her last resting
place. For myself there are no mis
givings as to her glorious happy home.
Her l ist battle has been fought, and the
victory won;
Rest now, soldier, for thy work is all
done.
Thy life’s long pilgrimage is ove and past;
Join the triumphant shout—“ Home at
last.”

Nerves are weak, many |»eople say,
ami yet (hey ( |o nut seem to know
that they are literally starving their
nerves. Weak, pale, thin blood can
not give proper sustenance that is
why you are nervous, tired, exhausted.
The cure for this condition is to
purify, vitalize and enrich your blood.
Take flood’s Sarsaparilla fairly and
faithfully, and the rich, red' blood,
which it makes, will soon feed the
nerves the elements of true strength
they require; they will cease their agi
tation and will resume their proper
place being under the .control in
stead of controlling the brain and
body. Read Miss Bartley’s letter:
“I want to express my gratitude for
what Hood’s Barsaparilla has done for

I was nervous, had pains In my back. I

I did not have any interest in life. I had

with Bright’s disease. A relative urged
me to try Hood’s Harsaparilla. X did so
and in a short time 1 began to notice a
change in my condition. Things began
to appear brighter, my eyee improved and

Mrs. J. I. Terry Dies Very suddenly.
Rape, Ga , May 26.—'This commun
ity was shocked this morning by the
announcement of the aim -st sudden
death of Mrs. Jack Terry, which oc
curred at her home near this place,
last night about 7:o0 o’clock, after au
illuess of only a few hours. She had
been in dtcliuiug health for several
years, but lor some time past she lias
seemed in better health than usual.
She was taken sick very suddenly yes
terday, aud lingered only a few hours
when death came peacefully mid put
au end to her sufferings. She leaves a
husband and three ehihireu to mourn
her loss. That dear companion is gone,
her troubles on earth are at an end.
That sweet, kind, and loving voice of
mother will he heard on earth no more.
She has gone to reap her reward. That
grief stricken son, has lost his host
frieud. Those two daughters w ill of

is gone. Her remains were laid to rest
in the cemetery at Bethany this even
