We, the Democratic Executive
Committee of Henry county, in session
this June Bth, 1890, appoint Col. C. T.
Zachry and O. E. Ham delegates to
the State Convention to be held at
Macon, Ga., dune 26th, 1890 aud in
struct them to vote for \V Y. Atkiu
son and the other present State House
officers, and also allow the said Zachry
and Ham to select their alternates.
We also appoint the following dele
gates to the Congressional nomination
to he held at Macon on June 21th,

most promiuput men iu his district aud

There were many strong endorsements
made for this branch of the general
assembly. Both the legislative halls
will be filled next term with represeu
ative Georgians. Georgia legislatures

week on a business trip.
Mrs. O'a Credille visited her father
Mr. L. H. Pursley, last week.
One of Dr. Wells’ little boys was
bitten by a snake last week—supposed
to be a rattlesnake.

Mr. Tom Brown has a great big

Well, the electiou is over, and we
Luella folks are glad of it, though it is
being talked a great deal yet. The
day passed off quietly, with the excep
tion of a very large crowd.
Oa last Wednesday evening Mr. aud
Mrs. W. A. Wells gave the young peo
of Luella one of the most enjoyable
entertainments that has been witnessed
this spring. It was given to Miss
Jonnie Wells, who will return tomor
row to her home in Alabama.
Messrs. L. H. I’ursley and Errette
C. Adams visited the Gate City Sun
day.
Mr. F. J. McEleuy visited Hampton
Sunday and reports fine crops in that
section.
Mr. J. F. Preston visited Vineyard
last Sunday, so he says, but it is not
yet known what widow he went to see.
Wonder if any of the McDonough
girls can tell us where Mr. E. F.
Adams was last Sunday.
Quite a good prayer meeting was
held at Mr. O. 11. Goodman’s last Sun
day night. It will be at Mr. Joe
Thompson’s ueit Suuday night.
Wonder where all the Luella Sun
day School was Suuday? They seem
to have been scattered. Say, let’s not

Kev. E. Culpepper of Jonesboro, preach
ed a very interesting sermon at Sharon last
Saturday. Everybody delighted with it.
Johunie Traynham of Newton visited in
this vicinity Sunday.
The young people enjoyed a singing at
Uncle Brooks Bryans Sunday eve.

thing since I became a voter, except a

last Saturday wtii e the polls were open
and democratic candidates came to rue
and asked for my support, and insisted
on me voting. I stated to some of
them that as I was a populist I would
not he allowed to vote. They assured
me ihat such was not the ease, hut thai
anybody could vote that wished to.
I here being some men on the tiekei
whom I take to be honest aud upright
men, 1 (iiled out my ticket and present*
ed it to the polls., My vote was chal
lenged on (the charge that I was a pop
ulist. 1 immedfttTciy asked to with
draw my ticket, but failed to get it at
first. The managers consulted togetb
er ami made a decision on the matter
They then, an there, made a public
announcement, stating that accotdiug
to the rules and regulations governing
said primary, they would not, and
could not, accept populist votets, con
spqueutly rny vote was thrown out.
Now I have it on good authority that
i’opulist voters, yea! Populist “Nig
gers,” were allowed to vote in the
morning, and nobody said a word. J
also have tho authority to state, that
after ray vote was thrown out, populist
voters were allowed to vote and nobo

and P. W. Pultin, who resides at Greenwood™
Henry County, Ga., do declare that they
have associated themselves together to form
a corporation for the purpose of carrying on
the business of banking under the laws of
said State. The names and residences of
the subscribers are as above stated; the
name and style ot the proposed corporation
is “The Bank of Henry County”: the loca
tion and principal place of business thereof
is at McDonough, Henry county, Ga., the
amount of toe capital stock is twenty five
thousand dollars, divided into two hundred
and fifty shares of one hundred dollars each:
the purpose and nature of the business of
the proposed corporation is to carry on the
business of banking under the usual hank
ing rules and regulations, and in accordance
with (he banking laws of said State. This
declaration is filed in accordance with the
Act of the General Assembly of said State,
approved December gUth, 1893, and the Act
amending the same approved December
13th, 1895, and the subscribers hereto ask
that a certificate of incorporation under the
Seal of the Slate as provided in said Acts
issue to them, their associates and succes
sors, colliding upon them all the capacity
and powers conferred by the laws of said
State upon such corporations.
