SILVER OR GOLD.
Better than either is a healthy
liver. If the liver is 0. K. the
man is O. K. His blood is kept
pure, his digestion perfect, and he
can enjoy life and act intelligently
and patiently upon the questions
of the day. You all know what to
take. You have known it for years.
It is Simmons Liver Regulator—
For years you and your fathers
have found it of sterling worth.
It is and always has been put up
only by J. H. Zeilin & Co. Take
none but the genuine. It has the
Bed Z on the front of the wrapper,
and nothing else is the same, and
nothing so good.

Fads in Medicine.
There are fads iu medicine as in every
thing else and a “new thing” frequent
ly sells for a short time simply be
cause it is new. But in medicine, as
iu nothing else, the people demand and
will be satisfied only with positive, ab
solute merit. The fact that Hoou s
Sarsaparilla has stood its grouud
against all competition, and its sales
have never wavered but have remained
steadily at the top, demonstrates, be
yond any doubt, the intrinsic virtues of
'his medicine. The new things have
come and gone but Hood’s Sarsaparilla
rests upun the solid foundation of ab
solute merit and its power to cure, and
its sales continue to be the largest in
the world.
An heir brake should invariably go
with every fortuue which is left to a
frivolous young man.
315 failures are recorded for last

in a recent letter that there has never
been but one Populist on the grand

Feed the Nerves
Upon pure, rich blood and you need
not fear nervous prostration. Nerves
are weak when they are improperly
aud insufficiently uouiished. Pure
blood is their proper food, and pure
blood comes by taking Hood's Sarsa
parilla, which is thus the greatest and
best nerve tonic. It also builds up the
whole system.
Hood’s Pills are the favorite family
cathartic, easy to take, easy to operate.
An exchauge gives the following
item about cotton: Cotton was first
planted in South Carolina, before Geor

cot'on factories first run in Georgia
was in Elbert county, and every hand
in it except superintendent was a negro
slave.
Memory is a little treacherous now
and then, and causes one to forget some
things worth remembering, unless one
has an experience like that which
came to Mr. D. E. East, Moffatt’s

found no relief until I took Simmons
Liver Regulator when I was entirely
relieved of my troubles. I never in

In a recent letter to the manufactur
ers Mr. W. F. Benjamin, editor of the
Spectator, Ilushford, N. Y., says: “It
may be a pleasure to you to know the
high esteem in which Chamberlain’s
medicines are held by h he people of
your own state, where they must be
best known. An aunt of miue, who
resides at Dexter, lowa, was about to
visit me a few years s.nce, and before
leaving home wrote me, asking if they
were sold here, staling if they were not
she would bring a quantity with her, as
she did not like to be without them.”
The medicines referred to are Cham
berlain’s Cough Remedy, famous for
its cures of colds and croup; Chamber
lain’s Pain Balm for rheumatism, lame
back, pains in the side and chest, and
Chamberlain’s Coltc, Cholera aud
Diarrhoea Remedy for bowel com
plaints. These medicines have been
in coustant use in for almost a
quarter of a cent\y-y. These people
have learned that they are articles of
great worth and merit, and unequaled
by any other. They are for sale by
medicine dealers. * ' t

The “Full Webwmin."
Question. —There is a multitude of
caterpillars,covered with yellowish hair,
with black heads and two rows of black
marks ou their bodies, now eating the
leaves on one of my shade trees Can
you tell me what they ure called, aud
give me some remedy for getting rid of
them ?
Answer. —From your description, the
iiiseet is the ‘ Fall Webworm,” found In
all parts of the United States. The worms
are hatched from eggs of a white moth,
which deposits them in the early sum
mer ou the leaves of various trees. As
soon as hatched the worms begin to eat
the foliage, and at the same time com
mence to spin a protective web. They
grow quite rapidly, eating all of the fol
iage, except the network of veins iu the
leaves, and as they grow they enlarge
the web. By the time they are full
grown, the caterpillars are over an inch
long and covered with yellowish hairs.
When grown they orawl to the ground,
where iu some sheltered uook, or just
uuder the surface of the ground, they
enclose themselves in a slight cocoon, iu
which they change to the chrysalis state,
and from which, lator ou, they emerge
as pretty white moths, which begin at
once to lay eggs as already mentioned
above. A good way to get rid of this
pest is to cut the webs from the tree and
burn them up. This is easily done oe
cause the webs can be so plainly seen.
They may also be effectually destroyed
by spraying with Paris green and Lou
don purple. —State Agricultural Depart

Cottonseed Falling to Com, Up.
Question.— Uan you explain to me
why I failed to get a good stand from
cottonseed that I know to be good—as
seed from the same lot germinated all
right, at other places ? I was very care
ful in the preparation aud planting of
my land and thoroughly rolled the seed
in as much guano and kaluit as would
stick to them, then put them in with a
planter allowing a full amouut of seod
to secure a good stand?
Answer. —lf you examined your seed,
as you probably did, when they failed
to coino up, you doubtless discovered
that they had tprouted, but that the
sprouts were destroyed after starting
into grow'th, and we attribute this to
the seed, of which the kaluit is largely
composed. As long as the seed were in
the hull the germ was protected agaiust
the effects of the salt, but as soon as the
sprout burst forth, it came in contact
with the salt, which caused it to wither
aud die. If you hud rolled your seed iu
the fertilizer without the additional
kainit, their vigorous germination
would have been assisted. The seed
themselves contain a small store of each
principal element of plaut food, enough
to start them into healthy growth, and
if when this is exhausted another sup
ply is at hand ready for immediate use,
the tiny plants take it up, aud are thus
more rapidly pushed forward. We have
often rolled the seed with marked ben
efit, and if you had left off the kainit
you would doubtless have secured a
good “stand” of strong, vigorous plants.
