The younger set of society was en
tertained Tuesday evening by Miss
Mae Askew in honor of her birthday.
Exquisite music was rendered by Misses
Nora and Edna Hightower, which was
enjoyed by all present. Delicious re
freshments were served, after which
games were iudulged in until a late
hour. Those present were :
Misses Edna Hightower, Mary High
tower, Lillie Clark, Ruth Upshur,
Annie Lee, Annie Ellis. Messrs. R.
E. Lee, Thomas Clark, Paul Upshur,
Walter Hightower, Bun Hightower,
Homer Harrell, Richard Lee and
Oliver Ellis.
Messrs. U. Askew and Joe Conkle
are attending the Grand Lodge in
Macon this week.
Messrs. Zach Ward and C. H.
Rhyne of Atlanta were in the city
Sunday.
Mrs. Merrett of Atlanta is the guest
of her sister, Mrs. J. G. Ward, this
week.
Miss Lena Calloway was in the city
shopping Wednesday.
J. W. Clark spent the day in Atlanta
on business last Saturday.
Miss Green Livingston of Rex was
the guest of Miss Rosa Lee this week.

Mr. Editor, we will write you a lew
lines to let you know that we are still
in the land and doing well.
Flippen has grown out o’ sight, that
is one thing we want to tell you about.
She now has five stores, ono church,
one school house, big giunery and a
great large warehouse, lull of ten ceDt
cotton.
Good crowd out at quarterly meet
ing last Saturday. Bro. Lovejoy
preached a very impressive sermon,
taking for his text, ‘‘Thy kingdom
come.” Rev T J Johnsou preached
for us on Sunday.
Mr J O Hightower visited relatives
at this place last Saturday and Sun
d»y.
Mr Tom Woodruff and others too
numerous to mentiou, visited our city
last Sunday afternoon.
Mr Will Burch paid his sister at
Macon a pop call Sunday.
Mr Malett of Jacktoa was in our
town last Monday.

the latter’s parents Sunday

account of the Seven Brothers not

Thompson have gone home from school
for a week’s rest.

Mrs. R C Brown spent several days
in Atlanta this week trading.

Rev. I. G. Walker preached at the
Baptist church Sunday night.
J H Knott and family spent the

with Mrs M J Henry.

on business one day this week.

for Greenville, Texas, where he will
go into business for himself.
Mrs J J Johnson visited Mrs Emily
Hood last Sunday.
Messrs J E Price and H H Johnson
were seen out riding in these parts
last Suuday.
Large crowd attended Sunday school
at Progress The addresses delivered
by Mr. Caimichael of McDouough and
others were very fine. If we could
have just such help in our Sabbath
school every Sunday, we think our
school would iucrease both in number
and interest. Come again gentlemen,
we always welcome good people and
we need more such cousecrated Chris
tians to work for souls aud not for
money for “what does it profit a man
if he gains the whole world and loses
