from Williamson Wednesday to remain
a while. He has just completed one of

spectable and highly esteemed citizen
of Beersheba district, died last Satur
day, and his remains were interred at

term of Butts Superior Court last Fri
day, and is holding Upson Court this
week.

taken the place of night operator at the
union depot, a position made vacant by
the resignation of D. W. Brandt.—

The cotton market has bad an up
ward tendency again this week, prices
increasing a few points nearly every
day, aod as we go to press a fancy
grade brings 10 cents.
Rev. F. S. Hudson left Wednesday
for Atlanta, in attendence upon the
annual conference, accompanied by
Mr. H. B. Neal as delegate from this
district. Mrs. Neal and Mrs. Smith
also accompanied them as visitors.
Mr. Gus Thrasher is laying down
the lumber preparatory to beginning
work on his new residence. It will be
located on the pretty corner lot just at
the end of Keys Ferry street.
Ad error was made in the printed
returns of Henry county's population.
Toe figure 6 should have been 8, mak
ing it 18,602 instead of 16,602. This
is a gain of over two thousand in ten
years—but still not enough for the
extra representative.
Rev Mr. Macon filled the Baptist
pulpit last Sunday in the absence of
the pastor, Rev B. D. Ragsdale, deli
vering an able and impressive sermon,
and our people will bs glad to welcome
him whenever it is their pleasure to
hear him again in (he future.

Mr. Vera Harper is with us, and would be glad to have

Mr. W. A. Simpson left Wednesday
for Campbell county, where he goes to
attend the annual conference of the M.
P. Church as a delegate. He will bo
engaged several days in the work of
the conference.
Dr. W. F Cook, a former beloved
presiding elder of the Mcdonough dis
trict, has decided to retire from the
ministry on account of ill health and
will take up his residence in Savannah
with his son, who resides there. Dr.
Cook carries with him iu bis retirement
the love, veneration and esteem of
thousands of people whom he has assis
ted to a higher life, consoled in their
afilictions and blessed in their lives.
The Weekly is printing a mid-term
announcement for McDonough High
School to be distributed today. Begin
ing with next term, Prof. Ham will
make this a graded echool, with a
teacher in charge of each department,
aud this announcement fully sets forth
the particulars. The High School has
also perfected arrangements for pupils
to enter Sophmore at Dahlooega and
ißreuau colleges, upon certificate of
the principal, which of course is a com
plimentary recognition of merit.
The Weekly was in error last week
in stating the reason Rev. R. L. Bell
failed to fill his appointment at the
Presbyterian church last Sunday. He
was attending the annual meeting of
the Synod aud could not get away.
Brother Bell is now regularly iu
stalled as pastor of the church here,
having moved his family to McDou
ough tbi« week, and will fill his ap
pointments under any and all circum
stances. He is an able, faithful minis
ter, and will find a warm welcome
among our people. He occupies the
residence vacated by Mr. Lon Sowell.

at which a number of the senator’s
friends were present. The dinner was
given at Mr. Tye’s Peachtree residence

The wedding of Mr. Henry Amis
and Miss Ella Daniel was solemnized
at the residence of the bride’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs J. C. Daniel, in this city
at 7 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon
last, November 21, 1900, Rev. B. D.
Ragsdale, pastor of the Baptist church,
performing the ceremony.
The bride is a daughter of County
School Commissioner Daniel, and a
very chrrming and accomplished young
'ady, and the groom is the only son of
Mr. W. W. Amis, with a bright future
before him. This is a younger couple
than ordinary for man and wife, enter
ing life just upon the very dawn of
young manhood and young womonhood,
and with an auspicious beginning, many
good wishes and congratulations go out
to them—in all of which The Weekly
heartily joins.
