NEW MITKGu OF
1 COTTON FINANCING
Farmers have found this season that
*n expert classing of their cotton is
often worth to them from SI.OO to $4.00
* hale in excess of the price they are
able to secure from casual buyers
“Without classing. This discovery has
been made through the operation of
Che Cotton Certificating and Inspection
Company, of Atlanta, a new company
and a new apllcatlon of scientific prln.
dples to the sale of, and borrowing
«nn cotton by farmers.
The company began operations In
the fall of this year, and is composed
«f Frank M. Inman, president; J. J.
Williamson, vice president, and Haynes
JdcFadden, treasurer. Its purposes
are to weigh, class, seal and certificate
cotton in warehouses. The certificates
are readily acceptable la banks as col
lateral for loans, and are given prefer
.«nce over open warehouse receipts, as
itinder this plan each bale bears a fire
proof seal and serial number corre
sponding to the numerals In the cer
tificate issued against it. The latter
forth also the market value ol
‘the cotton so many points on or ofl
middling, on the day of Inspection.
Besides furnishing a definite basis
for collateral, the sealing of the cot
ton Is invaluable to insurance comp*
Hies, which for the first time are of
'fered absolute identification for burned
cotton, not only the number of baler
In any lot Inspected, but the particular
number and grade of each bale de
•troyed.
As a matter of fact. It was first
thought that the plan of lnspectloc
and certification would appeal mainly
to banks, and Insurance companies, but
'when the company started to operate
itt became apparent at once that !h«
laervlce would possess to the farmer
in greater value, If anything, than U
’the other Interests. Farmers owning
;cotton covered by one of these certlfl
.cates are In a position to secure loant
from local and large city banks at th«
lowest available Interest rates, with
out the expense of paying freight anr
high storage charges to the large con
centra ting centers, also to offer buy
ors so many bales of definite weight
ismd which will grade a certain num
iber of points on or off middling. At
‘the grade is established by the best
class era in the cotton belt, there is n<
argument about the price basis. Or
the other hand, It has been the expe
sience of farmers that they have beer
protected on price by means of th»
‘certification to the extent of fron
twice to five times its cost. Thougl
the company has been operating only
a short time, it has already handled
«everal thousand bales to the entirt
satisfaction to both banks, and cotton
owners, thus proving the practlcabil
ltv of the plan.

THE DuORSLAMS
ON HAPPINESS
Poor Blood Makes
Bad Health—Then
Come the “Blues”
Once the vigor of red biood be
comes sapped of its strength, the
door to happiness is literally slam
med. Weariness of body follows
and it unfailingly engenders de
pressed thoughts. To reserved
and cheerless becomes a habit.
Alter a lime there is an almost
filmy dimness in the expression
of the eyes and a pallor to the
skin. Days seem dull and dark
and difficult. A sense of insuf
ferable gloom pervades the spirit.
Then it is that Gude’s Pepto-
Mangan is the great help. It is a
red blood builder. It puts red in
to the blood-increases the num
ber of corpuscles which make
blood is restored to its natural
healthy state, the sensation of
well-being returns. Instead of
shufflin along carelessly, there is
the firm and springy step, the
bright lusteriul eyes, the clear
complexion, identified with the
strength and vigor of good health.
The druggist has Gude’s Peplo-
Mangan in both liquid and tablet
form. —Advertisement.

Buick Oil Circulation
Oil pumps in automobiles sometimes freeze
up in very cold weather.
The Buick oil pump is so designed that, should
the pump gears be held immovable through
freezing, the shaft revolves within the gear. The
heat thus generated thaws out the frozen parts,
restoring gear action and oil flow to normal. ;
Only on a Buick will you find this feature.
