SUNDAY SCHOOL CON
VENTIONS jN SESSION
We are to have an unusual op
portunity to hear great, outstand
ing leaders in Sunday School work
at the Regional Sunday School
Convention. The conventions will
be in session in the First Metho
dist Church, Athens, on May 14,
15, 16, and in the Berry Schools
at Rome, on May 16, 17, 18.
The progrom is great. Special
emphasis is to be laid on evangel
ism in the Sunday Schools, the
work of the small Sunday School,
the Daily Vacation Bible School,
the Adult Bible Class, and every
department of the modern Sunday
School. A great music leader will
be on hand every session. The
whole program will enlarge the
vision, create enthusiasm, and
make you glad for the rest of your
days that you had a chance to be
there.
Our County is given a minimum
quota of 15 delegates. If we have
that number registered we will
receive a handsome attendance
banner. Parsonally, I should like
to see two or more representatives
from every Sunday School in the
County, and would be happy if we
could double our suggested quota.
Why can’t an automobile load
g» from every community? The
expense attached to the trip will
not be great. Sacrifice, if neces
sary, to take in one of these great
conventions.
Yours trulv,
J. J. Fields.

MT. ZION SINGING
HIGHLY ENJOYED
The annual all day singing
which Ins been held at Mt. Zion
church in Brushy Knob district for
a number of years, was held last
Sunday and it was one of the best
that has ever bem held in a long
time. A large number of singers
from Atlanta and other places
was present and also quite a num
ber of musicians with Cornett
Guitars, Vio'ius etc. were present
and they made the welkin ring
with good live soul inspiring soul
stirring music, and it was one of
the best singings that has ever
been held in Henry County.
Rev. Mr, Anderson the pastor of
the church was Chairman of the
day and Sheriff W. A. Ward re
presented Henry county on the
committee on arrangements, and
quite a number of song leaders
were present. At the 11:00 o’clock
hour the pastor of the church de
livered a most enteresting sermon
after which the hour of adjourn
ment was announced for the din
ner hour, and every body was in
vited to pertake of the sumptiem
dinner that had been prepared
especially for this occasion. When
it comes to fixing up a good din
ner the good people of Brushy
Knob and Shakcrag district know
how to do the thine just right, and
for good old time genuine hospi
tality they just simply cannot be
beat.
In the afternoon standing room
was at a premium, all of the
available space in the building was
filled to overflowing, and the
beauty of the occasion was that
the spirit of song was in the folks,
and they sang right out of their
heart and soul. One special fea
ture was the lesson led by the
twin brothers of Rockmact Ga.,
and also the torching duet of the
■song entitled “Mother,” by a
gentleman and lady whose names
we failed to learn.
It was one of the most soul
stirring and most enteresting song
services that it was ever our
privilege to attend, and was one
of the best ail day singings that
has ever been held in this county.

THE FORD WEEKLY
PiCISE PUN
“The Ford Weekly Purchase
Plan is going to be a boon to many
families and permit them to buy a
car much quicker than they ever
dreamed,” McDonough Motor Co.,
local Ford dealer said today in
discussing the new Plan which is
creating such widespread com
ment and which is being enthusi
astically received everywhere.
“In my experience as a Ford
dealer, and I believe It is true with
every other dealer and salesman
as well, I have met many persons
who expressed their desire to own
a Ford, and who frankly told me
that somehow they never could
get together enough money to
make the initial payment on one.
“The results was, of course, that
Ihey went on wanting a car and
hoping that some day something
would turn up whereby they could
get a car.
“Now that’ something’ has turn
ed up. The Ford Weekly Purchase
Plan simplifies it all and makes
it easier to come into the owner
ship of a car.
“It is constructive automobile
buying in the simplest and eas ; est
form and presents to countless
families all over the country the
long wished for opportunity of
enjoying motor car benefits and
pleasures.
“Right here in our own ciLv it
will be more than welcome.
“Take the family where, say,
the father is not the only wage
earner, but where perhaps a son
or a daughter or two are at work.
The family never has enjoyed a
car, yet every member times with
out number has express a desire
to own one.
“Under the Ford Weekly Pur
chasse Plan there is no reason at
all why such a family should not
soon own a Ford car. If each
member contributes just a little of
his or her earnings each week it
will hardly seem any time at all
before the whole family will be
eejoying a car.
“What is true of the family is
true also of the individual who
wants a car.
“And one of the most appealing
features of the Plan is that it is
adaptable to the means of practi
cally everyone. The weekly pay
ments, which are deposited to the
credit of the customer in the bank
and draw idterest at the regular
savings rate, may be fixed to suit
the desires of each purchaser.
What could be easier than that.
PROGRAM OF
METHODIST GHURGH
A splendid program of readings
and songs will be given at the
Methodist church Friday evening,
Mav 11th. Some of the very best
talents in in McDonough, will take
part in this program, which is as
surance enough that a treat is in
store for every one who will at
tend. Everybody cordially invit
ed. No admission.

The question of all the business
houses in the city observing a mid
week half holiday on Wednesday

■ cussed, and is being favorably con
sidered bv practically all the busi
