Bledsoe is filling the place of Prof. Dubose this week, who has returned to his home in Decatur to recuperate his health. Mr. Camp, of the firm of Duncan & Camp, Atlanta, came down Saturday to attend the big rally and mingle with his Ilenry county friends. Rev. Mr. Dußose, father of Profes sor Dubose, preached two able ser mons at the Presbyterian church last Sunday morning and night. See new advertisement of B. B Carmichael. Sloan has decorated tha Rack et Store windows with some attraerve pictures, and invites everybody to call around and learn the actual truth one time. Mr. Jim Cochran, one of the clever est ‘‘commercial evangelists” on the road, was in the city last Friday. Mr. Cochran attended the meeting of the Night Stars Club that evening, and en tertained the members with several songs and recitations, which were hear tily enjoyod by every one present. Miss Annie FAhridge left for her home in Decatur last Monday morning, after spending most of the Summer with the family of her Uncle, Mr. T. D. Stewart in this city. Miss Annie is an intelligent, charming ) oung lady, and her McDonough frieuds regret to o O give her up. Lelioy Fargason is one of the most urdane young gentleman in the county. Piut we don’t believe it, if they do tell it on him, that while talking to a young lady through the telephone, the other day, he tipped his hat and bowed as gracefully as if the fairy vision were actually in his presence smiling up in his handsome face —but there’s no mistake about LeUoy being polite. To the people of Locust Grove and vicinity: Having an abiding faith iu the future of our town, and a sincere desire to be an bumble factor in its up building, we undertake the management of this de partment, aud hope to have the sup port and sympathy of all who desire to see Locust Grove second to no town iu the State. Our motto will be to give the news, break down prejudice and build up the town, Our town will be what we make it, aud as the Editor has kindly given us this space, let us all work to gather iu harmony in it for our common good. The warehouse is doing a booming business, and is “filling a long felt want.” Dr. Peek says the indications are that the present legislature will be frost bitten. Mr. Jess Harris and wife, of Fair Oak, Florida, are visiting his brother, Mr. W. A. Harris. Rev. D. Soloman,of Flovilla, preach ed a most eloquent sermon at the Bap tist church last Sunday. Locust Grove needs to be incorpora ted, and we expect to agitate this point till we receive a charter. Mrs. Dr. llefflin went up to Atlanta last Monday. R. C. Brown also paid the Gate City a flying visit. The Satellite literary club will meet at Dr. IlefHin’s next Friday night. We will give report in our next. Mr. Jno. L. Gardener, proprietor of the Racket Store, has au attractive “ad” this week. Be sure to read it. See the attractive advertisement of Castellaw & Colvin. They are an en terprizing firm and richly deserve the patronage they receive. Mr. G. L. Williams and L. G. Smith left for Macon this morning, where they go to attend the famous Baptist School, Mercer University. Parties indebted to R. F. He has been quite sick for several days, but wo hope to see him out again soon. Mrs.-Jerry Cloud, of McDonough, has had her goods shipped down with the intention of imining a millinery store, but for some reason she has fail ed to secure a house. At the close of his sermon last Suu day, Dr. Solomon complimented the Baptist choir on their excellent singing and invited them to Flovilla. The in vitation will be accepted The oil mill company have been troubled on account of the failure of their water supply, but have placed a force pump iu a bold spring a half mile off and now have water in abundance. We call especial attention to the an nouncement of Prof. Williams. The Prof, has taught two flourishing schools at this place and has won for himself a most enviablo reputation as an edu cator.
