and Hannah, of Emory college,
Oxford.
Prof. Brown pronounced the
names of the successful competi¬
tors. Which was Tilly Ellington,
who rendered the recitation,"Deed
of valor at Santiago,” aud was a
member of Flint Hill school.
The young lady was Miss Mattie
Edwards, of Mt. Zion school who
rendered the piece, “When Jack
comes,” won for her speakers
place in the county contest.
Prof. Brown also gave a very in¬
teresting address upon the subject
of education, which he ably eus
tained and \Vhich was very much
enjoyed and highly appreciated by
all present.
We are requested iu behalf of
the teachers of the District aud
especially the teachers of Flint
Hill school to thank Profs Brown
and Hannah for the excellent ser
vice rendered on this occasion.
As there is no school in Wyatt
district, Prof. Martin was author¬
ized by Prof. G. C. Adams, to ap
point lrom bis school two speakers
for the county contest, which re
suited in the appointment of Miss
Sallye Mae Smith and Joe Laseter.
The sch <ole were all very well
represented by pupils and friends
from each of the schools and so
far as we know all seemed satis¬
fied with the selections ot speakers
and every one present seemed to
enjoy the program from start to
finish and we are happy to say the
Deportment of the entire evening
was exceptionally hue.
This happy occasion was dis¬
missed with prayer by Prof Han
uah, of Emory College.
