WILL NEWTON FOLLOW?
We note that Putnam county is
going to have a county fair this

don’t, matter whether it pays any¬
thing to ttie company which man
ages .t or not There ought to be
enough public spirit in a county
display its goods and wares and
opportunities.
\\ e really believe that it would
be a good thing for our county to
hav- i fair this fail. Newton is
j one of the best counties in the
I S’aie and could have a real good
time besides the good it would do
113 1U advertising it would do.
It would pay the merchants to
look into this, it would bring a
great deal of money to the town
We venture vo say that it would
bring to Covington 100 bales of
cotton that week than would ever
co,ne Co\ington otherwise.
1 We respectfully submit these
things to the citizens of the town
| and county and hope that some of
j our enterprising folks will push
1 this fair fo a successful end.
Can Newton do what Putnam is
going to do?

Andrew Jacksons Letter Written
to His Wife.
Editors Enterprise:—B elow
you will find a letter of Andrew
Jackson to his wife. This letter
has only recently come into poses
s:on of a gentleman in York coun¬
ty, S. C It will no doubt prove
interesting to Georgians, in as
much as it refers to political events
of that time, especially the coali
tiou between Clay and Crawford.
This same coalition was the cause
of the Cla>-Randolph duel. It
ought also show that politicians
have always lought each other bit¬
terly.
Trusting the enclosed letter will
prove to be <>f interest to the read¬
