IK OF FLOAT¬
ING BOND ISSUES.
L Thousand Dollars Suggest¬
ed As The Amount To be
[Used in Building Bridges.
t the last meeting of the Coun
Rom missioners the fact was de
fped that it would require
,! t thirty thousand dollars to
the bridges that need repairs
proper condition and, build new
kre there are needed. There
several bridges that ought to
built some that must be built,
here is the money to do this
k- coming from?
k a li the tax rate be the full
it for the next several^ years or
11 we put off the improvements
pur bridges and roads that are
sore need of them?
the county is now borrowing
Ley at the rate of six per cent,
hs seems cheap but just how
Lr this can bo kept up is the
jesti on.
It has beeen suggested, and the
Uestion has met with approval
>m a goodly dumber of people
it the county float a bond issue
say fifty thousand. This a
mnt would build steel bridges
lere they are needed and put the
1 ones in a condition that will
use them to need no work for
buy years. These bonds .could
floated at four per ceut and the
|utity commissioners could at
ce reduce the present tax rate
d pay interest on the hoiuis and
tire them as they fell due.
[Again this method would cause
le generation to come to help pay
I: these improvements; they
pght I to get the benefit of them,
Whether there will be any iur
ler effort to get the bond issue or
pt is at present unknown but this
iethod of getting our county at- I
iirs in a better shape is being
rongly uged by some of our best
tizens.

COVINGTON, GA. FRIDAY, JUNE 22, (906.
Ci> -NGTON WILL
pL>two games.
Conyers Coines For One Friday,
And Lithonia Next Tuesday.
Both Have Strong Teams.
Interest will iigain be turned to
the ball park the last of this week
and the first of next week and
every loyal patrofiizer of baseball
may be sure of seeing some fast
and interesting games. Manager
Norman, as in the past, will en¬
deavor to present to the public the
best team possible.
Conyers comes for one game
Friday. Mangum and Coile will
be on the firing line for the visitors
and probably Norman and Sim¬
mons for Covington. Lithonia
then comes for one game on Tues¬
day. This is an exceptionally
strong aggregation and the game
will be fought to the finish. No
battery for the visilors has been
given out. Manager Norman is
also undecided as to whom he will
send in the box.
The support the team has had
from the citizens has been the
worst ever, and no good baseball
association can live with the kind
of patronage the present associa¬
tion has recieved at the very be¬
ginning of the season. Don’t lose
heart because the team loses a few
games—every team loses.
Rest assuied that the men in
control of the baseball affairs here
will do every thing in their power
to give Covington a good bail team
and the greatest of national sports
on the move.
Now, every one! Arouse yiur
Wake up! and help the
team in every way possible.
Be present at the above games,
AND ROOT FOR THE ROYS UNTIL YOU
ARK HOARSE.
A Great Sale.
The closing out sale of \Y. L.
Adair, which begun on last Satur¬
is perhaps the most success¬
ful mercantile effort ever under¬
taken in Covington. Mr. Adair
has an extra force of about eigh¬
teen salespeople and yet he is una¬
ble to serve the great throng of
who are coining to Coving¬
from this and adjoining coun¬
ties.
