LOVEJOY RALLY A
GREAT SUCCESS.
With a Well Arranged Prog ram
the Large Crowd Was
Kigly Entertained.
The ninth annual rally of Love
joy Snudyy school was heed on
Saturday, the (Sth. This was one
ef tin most successful rallies ever
held in Newton county.
the program was well arranged
and each speakers’ effort was to
please and instruct his hearers.
The welcome address was deliv¬
„
ered by Mr. T. J. Speer, superin¬
tendent of the Sunday school. Af¬
ter this talk no one present could
feel otherwise than at home. The
address of welcome was responded
to by Col. A. D. Meador, Dr. Tay¬
lor being absent. Col’. Meador
responded in a few well chosen
words. He is always at bis best
in these impromptu talks.
The address o{ Col. R. W. Mil¬
ner was all that could be asked,
and all that the occasion called for.
Col. Milner knows all about Sun¬
day school working, having been a
superintendent of a Sunday school
everywhere he has lived. More
than that Col. Milner has his heart
in the work, and thatj means a
great deal. After Col. Milner’s
address Col. Mrddlebrook made an
address to the people. Col. Mid
dldbrook is always to be counted
upon to say something to please
the people. His talk was up to
the standard and ail who have
heard him know what that means.
CnI James P. Cooley next ad¬
dressed the people. Col. Cooley
has not been a resident of this
county more thnn four years, but
since his stay among ns he has
stamped himself as one of the most
for£> . .’il speakers that the people
ever heard. His speech Saturday
was characteristic of the man, and
a
that is enough said. .
After the address of Col. Cooley
it was announced that the dinner
hoar had arrived. This brought
a smile from every one present,
and all gathered at the long tables
which had been prepared for this
occasion and a more bountiful re¬
past was never witnessed. Lovejoy
