THE RESIDENCE QUESTION.
We are reliably informed that
Covington lost an excellent citizen
this week for no other reason than
we had no house to rent him. Is
this not a slam on Covington? Can
we grow if we do not have a place
to house those who want to come
and live among us? Ought not
some steps be taken to increase
the rentable houses in our city?
Covington presents a tine op¬
portunity for some of our citizens
who have capital to form an inl¬
provement company and make
good returns for the money inves
ted. Can we not have such a com
patty. We must not let desirable
citizens leave us; this will never
do.
We believe t-hat Covington is
the best town in Georgia : with all
the world to chose from we delib
erately chose Covington; but in
some respects we are not up to the
times. We mean this in the best
of spirit but no one, if able to
change it, can countenance the
the present condition as to houses
for rent,
Let us do something; build more
houses is the only solution.
Many a golden egg is found in
judicious advertising; have you a
nest built. If not we will build
y.u one in The Enterprise.
New fall goods are piling in by the car loads. Hundreds of great bargains in
most desirable merchandise will be ready for your choosing all this fall. Every
