IS SERIOUSLY HURT
An Accidental Explosion of a
Dynamite Cap causes fatal
Results.
Mrs. A. S. Hopkins, while at
the home of Mrs. T, M. Berry, had
a very painful injury inflicted
from the explosion of a dynamite
'jap.
Mrs. Hopkins was complaing of
headache when the little boy of
Mrs. Berry came in the room blow¬
ing the cap. He was told to throw
it in the fire, not knowing that it
was a deadly missile. The mo
ment it was in the fire it exploded
and the 9hell of the cap Btruck
Mrs. Hopkins in the right side in
dieting a painful and serious in¬
jury. Medical aid was at once pro¬
cured and everything possible was
done.
Thursday morning Mrs. Hop¬
kins was resting very well and her
recovery is predicted.
She has been iu ill health for
nearly a year and was just regaint,
ing her strength when the accideu
occurred.
The daughter of Dr. Hopkins is
at this time very sick with ty¬
phoid fever and is under the care
of trained nurses from Atlanta

Capt. R. J. Travis Gets Revolver
Match Money.
Capt. R. J. Travis received a
check yesterday for his pro rata
share of the first priz^ m the rapid
fire revolver match at Sea Girt, N.
J. Capt. Travis was one of the
several successful contestants in
that event and as it was near the
close of the shoot the tie match
was not snot off. The winners
agreed to divide the prize money.

man, and was formerly a resident

Mr. W. M. Heard Painfully

Mr. W. M. Heard, a prominent

breaking his leg. He was taking
the cotton off the wagon, which
fell on him.
Mr. Heard is now resting well.

Andrews, and R. W. Teaadale.

Prominent Farmer leaves New¬
ton for Dahlonega.
Mr. W. T. Smith, one of New¬
ton’s most prominent farmers has
sold his plantation to Dr. N. Z
Anderson and will in a short time
remove his family to Duhlunega.
In losing Mr. Smith Newton loses
one of her most substantial citizens.
