COVINGTON, GA. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER, 2, 1906.
TO BE
HELD
Congressional Election Tuesday;
Also Election of Appellate
Court Judges.
On next Tuesday the Federal
election will be held throughout
the United States to determine
which party will be in the major¬
ity in the House.
It is very necessary for every
voter to turn out and give the
nominees as big majority as possi¬
ble. The election committee in
the House always goes by the
votes cast in the general election.
A fight is already on to cut down
the representation of the South,
and if we fail to givo our member
a good vote it may cause us some
embarrassment in the future.
Also, on next Tuesday a State
election will be held for the pur¬
pose of electing judges of the
Appellate Court.
heaven, and it does not pay to
run it 1
Some of the conspicuous faults
of our town, ecclesiastically and
religiously, and I speak with great
caution, and love for it, are:
Failure to attend regular church
services as you should.
Failure to properly support the
Sunday schools.
A lack of cordiality towards
strangers (not toward pastors?)
A lack of assertiveness, aggreo.
siveness on the part of individual
Christians.
A Christian owes uobody an
ap logy for his position and should
not wear an apologetic air.
Se tk remedies for these faults
and our churches will grow, and
God’s benediction will rest upon
us.

Pastor# of Covington
Form a Conference.
The pastors of Covington in¬
augurated a Monday morning con
ference this week, and began laBt
Monday.
They met to discuss co operative
measures, and it is understood
that the thorough eradication of
all vicious and baneful influences
from the churches was the main
topic discussed.
They reached an agreement to
throw their united influence
against condoning, or in any way
shielding offenders in the matters
of public morals, influence, etc.,
wheu such offenders belong to
the churches.
They expect to call upon their
respective churches to back up
this action.
