Covington Pastors Call a
Thanksgiving Assembly
We, the pastors in Covington,
call upon you as members of the
churches, and as citizens of our
town, to respend to the Thanks¬
giving Proclamation of our chief
executive, and to manifest your
gratitude to Almighty God by
coming together for praise and
worship at the hour of ten a. m.
on Thursday, Nov. 29, at the Cov¬
ington Baptist church. We have
arranged for a union gathering at
that hour and place, and have ap¬
pointed Rev. J. B. Gordon of the
Presbyterian church to deliver an
appropriate discourse.
We request musical people of
the other churches to help those of
the Baptist church to make the
music as grand, as grateful and as
acceptable to God as it should be
on such an occasion.
We contemplate an hour’s ser¬
vice, and we call upon you all to
close your places of business, and
so order your homes as to be pres¬
ent with your families.
This call is intended to include
all clases of people in our town
and community, who have received
benefits from Almighty God.
A cordial welcome and, we are
sure, a divine blessing awaits all
who attend.
