Liquor Hit Again
The Supreme Lodge of the
Knights of Pythias has passed a
sweeping anti-liquor statute. The
new law bars from admission into
the order all wholesale liquor deal*
ors and hotel keepers who run
bars in connection with their busi¬
ness. The new law also excludes
“professional gamblers, saloon¬
keepers, bar-tenders, or dealers
in spirituous or malt liquors.”
This statute does not affect those
who arc already members of the
order.
Give children a remedy with a pleasant
taste. Don’t lorce unpleasant medicine
down their throats. Kennedy’s Laxative
(containing Honey and Tar is most pleas¬
ant to take. Children like it, and as a re¬
lief for colds, coughs, ete., there is nothing
better. No opiates. Conforms to Nation¬
al Pure Food and Drug Law. Sold at J.
A, W right’s Drug Store.
The Prohibitionists of Georgia.
There was never a time in Geor¬
gia when it was more important
tor the prohibitionists of Georgia
t0 uu ^ed than the present.
Let us see to it that no side issue
devides us. Wisdom should pre
vail ui all our plans. The read¬
iest to speak their minds are not
necessarily the safest leaders.
The wildest speakers at, public
meeting before the war were not
always the bravest soldiers when
the battle came. Let all stand
solid on the resolution that the
whiskey business in Georgia must
go, and not divide on the time
when or the way how.
Here is our condensed opinion of the
Original Laxative Cough Syrup; “Nearly
all ether cough syrups are constipating,
especially these containing opiates. Ken¬
nedy’s Laxative, (containing) Honey and
Tar moves the bowels Contains opiates
Conforms no
to the National Pure Food and
Drug Law. Sold at Wright’s drug store.

The Liquor Men Knocked Out.
Some time ago the ministers
of Valdosta made a concerted
attack on the liquor business of
that city, begging the city council
not to renew the license to sell
liquor.
On last Wensday the city coun¬
cil met, the ministers appeared
before it, and an ordinance was
passed revoking the licence of all
the saloons in the city, the ordi¬
nance to take effect from the first
of March next.
Ordinary Simms also, it is re¬
ported, addressed the council in
an enthusiastic speech, stating
that he would not issue a State or
county license to sell liquor after
the expiration of the present licen¬
ses.
This looks very much like Valdos¬
ta and Lowndes county will be dry
in a few months, The ministers
of Valdosta have cause to l t feel
good” over the triumph of civic
righteousness they have had some
part in bringing about. Prayer
meetings have been held in the
Churches; men, women, and child¬
ren have been intensely interested
in bringing about the action of
the council, and the meeting held
on Wednesday in the city hall
was largely attended. Valdosta
has been very “wet” for a long
time; may it’s “dry > ? season be
near at hand!
