Covington Hotel Changes Hands.
Mrs. L. P, Reeves has leased
the Covington Hotel, and sue
ceeds Mr. J. S. Lannius. She is
an expert ie the hotel business,
having had charge of some of the
largest hotels in Missouri, and
Georgia. She has with her an
experienced matron in the person
of Mrs. Bertie Tanner. She will
conduct one of the best and mo*!
uptodate hotels on the Georgia
Road.
Mrs. Reaves desires that it be
distinctly understsod that she is
the sole proprietor o f the hotel
and is not running it for anybody
else.
New Undertaking
Establishment.
Mr. R. E. Everitt, who has
been engaged in the furniture and
vehicle business for a number of
years, has added undertaking and
embalming. He h is engaged the
service of Mr. C. R. Robertson, an
expert embalmer. He has also
purchased two of the finest hears¬
es ever brought to this State.

J. E. Pound officiating. Miss
Nona is the daughter of Mr. C. E.
Athan, of Athan, Ga., a large
and prosperous planter of South
Georgia. She is one ot the most
talented young ladies of the State,
and is quite popular in the social
world. Mr. Jasman iB one of the
most progressive business men of
Covington, having been engaged
in the real estate and broker busi¬
ness for a number of years.

Governor Northern Speaks.
Ex-Governor W. J, Northern, of
Atlanta, addressed a representa¬
tive audience in the Council
Chamber Monday night, under
the auspices of the Business Men’s
Gospel League. His subject was
the prevailence of mob violence in
Georgia, and how to stop it. His
object in coming to Covington
was to organize a civic federation
league among the citizens here.
A mass meeting of the citizens
of Covington is called for Thurs¬
day evening Jan. 17th , every¬
body invited. Permonent organ¬
ization.
Dr. J. B. Watkins, veterinary
surgeon of Jackson, Ga., will be
in Covington next Wednesday,
also every other Wednesday in

of Hon. J. Z. Johnson, in Oxford, I
cought, on fire and came near be¬
ing consumed. A large crowd of
