Aged Newnaa'Man To Visit
Famous Old Mill In Newton.
R. D. Cole Sr., commonly know
aa “Uncle Duke,” and who just a
little more than fifty years since he
founded the now R. D. Cole Man¬
ufacturing Company, of Newnan,
is soon to make a visit to Newton
county and again walk amid the
scenes which 80 years ago was his
play ground.
It was his father who ninety
years since built and operated the
first merchant mill in the state.
It still in operation, never having
been stopped except for - repairs.
« • Uncle Duke” was about 8 years
old when he last saw the mill.
Just to Fill Up.
A newspaper has two things to
sell—a space for advertisers, and
subscription for the publication.
These are two of the sources of
revenue from from which the edi¬
tor derives a living. To ask him
to give a dozen lines of space to
bogst a firm “just to fill up,” as a
person was heard to remark the
otheida), is diawing the line
rather fine No other business
gives eo much for nothing
as the newspapers. Suppose you
go into a merchant’s store and ask
him to give you a dozen bananas
“just to help fill up” with and see
how quick you get fired.—Mareitta
Journal.

Covington Baseball Team
Will Be a Winner.
Exhibition games of ball in the
cities are now in the limelight,
but as the season for real cham¬
pionship playing approaches the
smaller cities are talking baseball
on the corners and the fever has
already burst forth.
Each year Covington presents a
strong line-up, and it is expected
that this season’s team will be bet¬
ter than that of last, which is say
ing a great deal, for lovers of the
manly sport in our city are proud
of the splendid record made by the
Covington nine last year.
The oaseball park is in fairly
good condition and necessary work
to put it in tip-top shape will be
done within the next few weeks.
Here’s hoping that the 1907 team
which is to represent Covington
will be a winner from the start*and
finish the season with a record of
which any amateur team would
feel proud.
