For Singer Company.
Mr. H. P. Vestal, of Atlanta,
has accepted the management of
the Singer Sewing Machine Co
here to fill the vacancy caused by
the resignation of Mr. C. S. Bease
ley. Mr. Vestal is an old employ¬
er of the Company and has had a
sufficient amount of experience to
make the business here a “hum¬
mer.” He is courteous and polite
and we bespeak for him much sue
cess.

Col. Livingston at Home.
Hon. L. F. Livingston is at
home after a very strenuous win¬
ter’s work in Washington. Col.
L. i9 on several important com¬
mittees, which take up most of his
time in the national capital. He
is now the senior member of the
Georgia delegation, both in age
aqd point of service, hence he is
dean of the delegation. Col. Liv¬
ingston did some very effective
work in prjbing the New York
cotton exchange. He thinks the
republicans will nominate Roose¬
velt next year.

Miss Mamie Peek Dead.
Miss Mamie Peek, a most excel¬
lent Christian woman, died at the
home of her mother, Mrs. J. F.
Peek, Sr., in Oxford Monday, af¬
ter an illness of several months.
Shewas 42 years of age, and a loyal
member of the Methodist church
since early child hold
Miss Mamie, as she was called
by her friends, was one of Oxford’s
loved and most highly respected
women, always willing to take thp
lead in the work for her Master.
For a number of years she re¬
sided at the Peek home place, just
outside the city limits ot Coving
ton
She is survived by her mother,
three sisters and four brothers:
Mrs. Tom Ellington, of Alabama;
Mrs. Horace Thompson, ol Atlan¬
ta; and Mrs C. S. Worsham, of
Oxford. Messrs. C. N , J. W., J.
3., and R. L. Peek, all of this
county.
Dr C. E Dowman and Rev. F.
Baum conducted the funeral ser¬
vices from the residence Tuesday,
