OUR PROPOSITION.
We are going to send some worthy boy or girl from Newton
county to the Agricultural College at Monroe, without one
cent of cost to him or her, and the readers of The Enterprise
shall decide who this boy or girl shall be. Each issue of this
paper will contain a coupon, which entitles the subscriber to
4» 1 one vote for his choice in this contest. For every NEW
SUBSCRIBER ol $1.00 for 1 year’s subscription, paid in
advance is entitled to 500 votes; iEvery subscriber paying up
arrears will be entitled to 300 votes for every $i.*»o paid.
This is by far the most liberal offer ever made by any paper
in Newton county, or in this section of the State.

THE ENTERPRISE.
The Enterprise is the leading newspaper in Newton county
and Middle Georgia and has been for 41 years. It is the
official organ of the Sheriff, the Ordinary, the Board of Coun¬
ty Commissioners, and the City of Covington. All legal ad¬
vertisements appear in its columns.
It is our aim to make The Enterprise better than it has
ever been, and we are putting forth no little effort to accom-
1 plish this end. Now, won’t you help us ? Your subscription
paid in advance will go that much towards aiding us in this
undertaking. If you have paid in advance try and get your
neighbor to subscribe. It will be a help to you and to them
and the families of both of vou.
COURSE OF STUDY.
The course of study in the schools will be confined to the
elementary brancnes of an English education, practical lectures
on Agriculture in all its branches, and the Mechanic arts.
The nature and tendency ol the curriculum will be the edu¬
cation of the pupils, both theoretically and practically, in the
science ot agriculture and mechanic arts, and prepare them
for citizenship.
Class room work in agriculture and related science, English
Mathematics and History, are to take up three hours a day
and at least the same length of time is to be spent on the
farm, in the laboratory, or shop, the exigencies to regulate the
hours in actual iarm work. I he farm and shop will be in
continuous operation, work and study alternating among the
classes, morning and afternoon, female students will be
given a practical and comprehensive course i n domestic
science, sewing, household economics and kindred studies.
Remember, the subscriber must sign the Coupon,
although the vote can be cast for any boy or girl in this
county.
All subscribers who are in arrears and who desire lo
pay up will be given the following number of votes:
