Tribe of Red Men
Instituted at Salem
Degree team of Suwanee Tribe
No 02, Improved Order of Red
Men went out to Salem on Friday
night of last week and instituted
Narragansett Tribe No. GO. Quite
a number of the new members
were present and indications are
good for a flourishing tribe at.

On Tuesday Messrs. R. R.
Fowler, R. P. Lester and Goe. T.
Smith left for Macon, where they
went us delegates from the local
lodge here to attend the Grand
Council, Royal Arcanum, which
convened in that'eity three days
of this week.
Old Maid’s Convention
At Mansfield Tonight.
Tonight (Friday) an old maid’s
convention, under the auspices of
the ladies of the Methodist church,
and produced by home talent, will
be given at Mansfield. Two hours
of great enjoyment, amusement
and instruction is promised. The
ugliest old maid will be trans¬
formed into a beautiful young girl.
Admission, adults 25 cents; child¬
ren 10 and 15 cents.
Congressman Livingston
Celebrates His 76th. Birthday.
Congressman L F. Livingston
celebrated his 76th. birthday on
Wednesday, April 3rd

Col Livingston has many
friends all over the United States
who wish for him continual good

valuable life may be spared for
many more years in the service of

Mr. Davis Returns to Newton.
Mr. J. M. Davis and family, who
moved from to South Georgia
about two years ago, will move
back here and reside in the future.
Mr. Davis says he has tried South
Georgia long enough aud that old
Newton is good enough for him.
He has a large number ot friends
over the county who will hear of

Covington Knights Prospering.
Covington Lodge, No. 118,
Knights of Pythias, held its regu¬
lar semi-monthly session in Castle
Hall on last Monday evening with
a large number ot members pres

conferred upon two candidates.
A. B. Sims having tendered Ins
resignation as representative to
the Grand Lodge, which convenes
in Bainbridge on May 21 , and it
appearing that his alternate, Juo.
B. Davis, would be unable to go,
R. R. Fowler was July elected and
commissioned to till the vacancy,
and P. w , Godfrey was choses as
his alternate.
On the first Monday night in
May, five candidates will be made
full-fledged Knights by the
Covington lodge. 1 he present ad¬
ministration is working hard to
make this the banner yeur in local
Pytlnunism.
Photographer Perkins Sells Out.
Mr. W. R. Perkins, our popular
photographer and one of the most
highly esteemed citizens, has sold
his gallery to Mr. Hrrry Death.
Mr. Perkins has been here for
over twenty-seven years, and sus¬
tains the reputation of being one
of the beet photogruphers in the
State He is a valuable citizen
and the people of this city regret
very much to lose him. Ho has
not as yet announced where lie j
will locate, but we oespeak sue
cess for him wherever he may
choose to cast his lot.
Mr. Death is well known to
our readers as a man who has had
mam years experience in the
photograph business and needs no
recommendation from us. He has
made pictures in this and adjoin¬
ing counties for the past several
years, and assumes his position
among us, not a stranger, but as
one well known capitally and
qualified for the undertaking
