Prominent Young Man of Starrs
ville Ends His Life With
A Shotgun.
Mr. Capers Jones, a Highly re¬
spected and prominent and well
connected young man of this
county commuted suicide at his
home near Starrsville on Wednes¬
day of last week, by shooting him¬
self through the heart with a
double-barrel shotgun.
Mr. Jones was m the eighteenth
year of his age- and the son of Mr.
J. M. Jones, a prosperous and
prominent plantes of that section.
Money matters is said to be the
cause of the tragedy. He was in
good health, and after finishing
his dinner he went to his room
and a few minutes later had ended
his lif*.
His remains were interred in
the cemetery near Starrsville.
Mr. Guinn’s Letter.
We print this week, a letter
from Prof. R. A. Guinn, of Con¬
yers, to Mrs. Nannie Guinn Bog
gus, of Fline Hill.
Prof. Guinn, as stated in his ar¬
ticle. was a teacher in the county
long years ago, and his name is a
house-hold word in the communi¬
ty where he taught. Other teach¬
ers have come and gone, and are
torgotten, but the name of this
patriarch of the old school will
live in generations yet to cmne.
He was a born-instructor (if there
be such) and was happiest while
imparting knowledge.
His patrons knew this and kept
him until they were compelled to
give him lip to a larger place. He
was not lazy or else he could not.
have taught forty-six years in two
places.
At an entertainment soon to be
held at his old school, it is the de¬
sire of the people that this grand
old gentleman be present—the
